TGM: Hangman radio silence

In Top Gun Maverick, the flight of 4 were making radio calls as they were evading SAMs and then egressing. If there was a 5th gen fighter around their egress, surely their radio calls would give them away.

In the F-14, Maverick and Rooster get their electronics working and then encounter another 5th gen fighter and at the last possible moment are saved by Hangman out of nowhere.

Was radio silence essential pre-attack by Hangman to Maverick and Rooster or was he just being dramatic? I mean why no call like “Hangman is supersonic. I'll be there in thirty seconds…”

Seems a bit inconsistent to me.

Would the Navy have retrieved Maverick’s F-14 from the ocean after Maverick and Goose ejected?

When pilots eject over the ocean in training, does the Navy fish the plane from the ocean or does it just get left on the bottom?
