First Trad Flash

Popped my cherry! Decided to use prisma colored pencils on arches cold press for my first sheet since I’m not as familiar with watercolor. This made me realize how easily micron pens dry out on this paper. Not sure if I was doing it wrong? I used size 1 for the checkered outline then had to use BR as it slid smoother and did not dry out. I bought a B5 nib so I’ll be using that in further sheets

Varnish over watercolour?

Apologies if its been answered before but before I potentially ruin a sheet ive painted using ph martins watercolour, could anyone give me any recommendations of a tinted varnish that wont mess it up? Wanting to move away from coffee staining and get glossy.

Thanks!

Offcuts

Got loads of off-cut pieces of random paper. Gonna try and get through them this week.
Dog is a rosie camanga repaint but bonus points of you know the original reference.

Double drawn out sheets by mysef @poblaquiere

These two were done with Prismacolor colored pencil on the backside of Arches papers. Just wanted to try something different and it ended up beign more difficult than I first thought, haha.
Top sheet is from Cecil Rhodes, bottom one from Fred Marquand.
These are #101 and #102!

Help identifying a tattoo my dad got in Okinawa in 1977

My dad is a marine and got this tattoo in 1977 stationed in Okinawa. The tattoo parlor was called Stinky's after the artist who did it. He described Stinky as an older Japanese man who had a bandaged up leg. The closest I've found to it was this old Cap Coleman flash. Curious if this is what Stinky had hanging on his wall. The tailfin is different on my dad's. Curious if any historians here might know of any other flash that looks like my dad's dragon that would've been floating around Okinawa in the 70s. Any help or references appreciated!
