New App …

Whelp, I rode indoors today using the new Virtual and, like the old one, it crashed on my iPad after about 10 minutes. Thought I had figured out the workaround (restart the iPad Pro first), but nope …

Then, rode a grueling set of intervals for the next 45 minutes, and after it synced back to TP, only recorded a third of that … WTF?

It wasn’t paused or anything — the app definitely froze a few times but seemingly recovered …

Wish Virtual was hardened — can’t trust it as it is, unfortunately …

How often do you 'fail' HIT workouts? ...and what do you do after?

You're 34 mins into a set of On/Off intervals of some sort. You warmed up well. The first rep felt sore, but that's normal as Mr Quad gets the usual shock of having to Haul and Trawl.
...and then it happens, you just fail... you stop. Breathing heavily.... and now you mind starts to justify why you 'gave up'...

We are going to fail (DNF) a Interval or MaxEfforts workout at some point for some reason.

  1. Why do you 'fail'?
  2. What do you guys do?
  3. How do you deal with it?

I'd love to hear about the experiences from other out there? No shame, no shade. We all learn.

Multiple Accounts

I have a coaching account as well as my personal account I get coached from. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to switch between easily? Currently I have to constantly log out and log back in between accounts.

Training Peaks and Garmin

With the recent sync news, does this mean any TPV rides that are automatically synced to Garmin will now have an exercise load reading in Garmin?

Thinking about becoming a cycling coach – is it worth it?

Hi everyone,
I’ve been thinking about earning a bit of extra income as a cycling coach, and I’d love to hear from people who are already doing it.

A little about me: I have a degree in Computer Science and have been riding road bikes seriously for about six years. Over the last few years I’ve started creating my own training plans, and they’ve helped me consistently achieve my goals. I’ve also spent quite a bit of time studying the standard literature on endurance training and training methodology.

At this point, I feel confident that I could help beginner and intermediate cyclists by creating individualized training plans and providing coaching and guidance. Of course, I know there’s always more to learn, and I’m interested in doing this professionally rather than just as a hobby.

My questions are:
- How difficult is it to find clients as a new cycling coach?
- Does it make sense to use TrainingPeaks as a coaching platform, and is the TrainingPeaks University certification worth the investment?
Besides practical experience, what education, certifications, or resources would you recommend before taking on paying clients?
- Is there anything you wish you had known before you started coaching?

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share. Thanks!

Training peaks virtual, virtual shifting

I tried training peaks virtual and I have my bike setup for zwift with the zwift cog, so I am using virtual shifting

When I am on the flats or gentle rollers virtual shifting is fine. As soon as the gradient goes above 4 percent the resistance makes it very harf to pedal. Feels more like 15 percent than 4 even in the lowest virtual gear.

Anyone else experienced this, know a fix?

Training Peaks Premium with Garmin Connect+

With Garmin acquiring Training Peaks, is the thinking this will now be rolled into one off cost, or will it still be separate, I am hoping it is the latter.
I have premium Training Peaks and always renew when we get the Black Friday discount, but don't want a bar of Garmin Connect+ as there is nothing really it offers worth subscribing in my mind.
