The S4 Mk3 is a better controller than the DDJ1000.
I found myself longing to go back to Pioneer about 6
months ago. So I sold my S4 Mk3 to buy a DDJ1000.
I’ve had both already multiple times and felt I wanted bigger jogs and auto beat sweep FX from one button like most Pioneer stuff has.
Straight off the bat - the sound quality is nowhere near as good as the S4. The Ozone maximizer just adds sparks to the music. It never sounds overbearing and always clean at higher volumes on my Rokit 5 Classics.
Then there’s the software. Rekordbox is an absolute pile of steaming turd. It’s brutal on my MacBooks CPU and RAM and the mixes DRIFT. I feel I’m constantly touching the platters with the DDJ.
One thing I will say in the favour of the DDJ is that the headphone volume of S4 is just too low.
That is literally my only gripe.
I cannot believe that a used S4 with a flight case is half the price of the DDJ.
Are people just sucked in to the Pioneer hype?
