Hey everyone!

I'm an international student living in Oulu. I've been researching places to travel somewhere by myself and I liked the Turku archipelago.

For some context, I've never solo travelled before, so the idea is pretty scary to me. But I really want an experience like this. I have some questions.

Would it be a good place to travel to solo? I saw the Laivahostel Bore, which looks like a hostel in a ship? Do you think it's a good place to stay if I'm travelling alone? I would prefer cheap accomodation.

From what I saw, you need to use the ferry to go to the archipelago. What would the travelling situation be like? I don't have a car or a bike, but would I be able to rent a bike somewhere? Would buses and walking be enough?

Any suggestions of any other places for a solo traveller? What other activities/places would you suggest there?

I've also never planned a trip before so it's pretty intimidating and I don't even know how and where to start.

If I can overcome my fear, I would love to visit there in August, for a weekend.

My friend and I (27M and 28M) are planning to rent a car to take to Helsinki on the 18th of July to watch the Manchester United-Wrexham game. We plan to leave in the morning, explore the city and then go watch the game at 18:00 before heading back to Turku. I'm Brazilian, and I will move with my wife to turku in September, as I will work as Visiting Researcher at Turku University (Part of my PhD thesis that's being fully funded by my country). I will receive 1700€ monthly (not predction to receive more than this at beggining, because I will be paid by Brazil.)

It's possible for two people live with this income in Turku? I will rent a apartment between 480€ - 550€.

Hello, I’ll be in Turku for a month with my wife and kids. We’ll be staying at my wife’s grandparents’ home there. I’d like to buy a cheap used guitar to play with my kids, as I usually do here in Italy. Then, I’ll leave it at grandpa’s house for future holidays (we visit Turku once a year).

Do you know where I can look for one? Are there any second-hand shops or markets that sell guitars? Do you know any good second-hand listing websites?

I’m also looking for recommendations for places to visit in and around Turku. We’ve already seen the main tourist attractions in the city and been to the most famous spots like Ruissalo and Naantali. We’d love to discover hidden gems and places you won’t find in guidebooks and that only true locals would know about. We have a car, but we’d prefer not to drive more than three hours each way, otherwise our little ones will go stir-crazy!
For example, we were thinking of visiting Hanko and then maybe spending a day at the Pori Jazz Festival. Closer suggestions are also perfect. Thanks in advance to everyone for your tips! :)

How can you get info on more underground rave events in Turku? I know of course UG-Klubi and been to some X-Rust events in bars etc. And one summer I attended one forest rave which I got info on by chance. I understand people want to keep things small and like "you know if you know". Any bump in the right direction?

I just moved to Turku from Spain and I feel extremely lonely. In Spain it was so easy to make friends but people feel very cold and mean here. How could i get to know spanish/portuguese speaking people from here or make friends? I really have hated it here so far.

I am from Estonia and I am planning to move to Finland in the near future. My goal is to start my own company there and begin looking for electrical installation projects and contracts.

I would like to ask for advice on where and how I could find clients in Finland. Where do Finnish people or companies usually search for electricians or electrical contractors? Are there specific platforms, websites, or networks that are commonly used?

In addition to electrical work, I also have strong experience in construction. I have personally built two private houses from the ground up. I also hold a higher education degree in fire safety engineering, as well as a professional qualification as a security systems technician.

I would really appreciate any guidance on how to enter the Finnish market and connect with potential clients or partners.

Koju oli itäisellä rantakadulla ja siinä oli hiiriä erilaisissa tilanteissa ja ne oli suurin osa laitettu kuppiin tai lasiin. Tietääkö kukaan yrityksen nimeä tai onko sillä nettisivua?

Turku on täynnä ihmisiä mutta en keksi missä niihin vois tutustua. Ideoita? Baarit ja sellaset ei oikein sovi kun en tykkää olla niin myöhään missään enkä myöskään juo. CampusSportin Just for fun-liikuntavuoro oli kiva (periaatteessa niin kun koululiikkaa mut vapaaehtoista ja kesti vaan 50 minsaa) mutta sitä ei enää tänä keväänä ollut kun vetäjää ei löytynyt ja nyt olen valmistunutkin jo. Parikymppinen olen ja siis omanikäsiin haluisin tutustua

Suositelkaa hyviä ulkomaalaisia ravintoloita. Tarkoitus olisi kesän aikana kierrellä useampi rafla ja maistella makuja muualta kuin perus suomi, italia jenkki tyyliset.
