i’m currently watching the kdrama ‘Strong-Girl Bong-Soon’ with my sister, (we’re only on episode 8 so no spoilers please), but we’ve had to pause the show after the pure shock of seeing how badly Do Chil-goo (her father) was beaten by his wife. Is this culturally acceptable?? Or is this just an odd anomaly in korean television. I’m genuinely appalled to the point where I don’t want to finish this show. I don’t understand how a show centred around preventing violence towards vulnerable people would promote domestic violence for comedic purposes, or does this get addressed later in the show. I honestly cannot stand her mum’s character and think there are almost no redeemable qualities about her.
