Mom claims $70 is a rip-off for this handmade bouquet and says "nobody would pay that." How do you deal with family severely devaluing your/a loved one's work?
Hey everyone, I need some perspective. My stepmom makes these beautiful, intricate crochet bouquets (attached photos). For Mother's Day, my mom loved the one I got her so much that she asked to buy one for her mother-in-law.
My stepmom normally charges $70 for this specific size because of the hours of labor, yarn, wire, and wrapping details. When I told my mom the price, she completely lost it (see text screenshots). She claims she saw them at a crowded event for $50 and that I'm 'out of it' for thinking $70 is fair. I even offered to cover $20 out of my own pocket to bring it down to $50 for her, and she’s still being rude.
As non-biased people, is $70 actually too much for a full bouquet like this? I feel so defensive over my stepmom's hard work.
