Puffins are one of the rarest breeding birds in Dorset, but a sighting of a young puffin emerging from its nest in Purbeck has given fresh hope for the future! 🥹
It's the first confirmed sighting of a puffin fledgling (puffling) in 30 years!
The sighting followed more than 15 weeks of monitoring by the volunteers, who watched the adult puffins courting, mating, carrying nesting material, and, since late May, repeatedly delivering fish to the nests hidden deep within the crevice.
