Copyright Permission for Reproducing a News Article and Photographs in a Commercial Book

I'm currently writing a nonfiction book and have a question about using a news article and photographs in the book.

The Weather Network published an article that is directly relevant to something I discuss in my book. The article includes photographs credited to a photographer. I would really like to include either a screenshot/image of the published article and/or the photographs themselves in the book.

I've been trying to contact The Weather Network to ask permission, but haven't had any luck getting through to the right person. I've also tried to locate the photographer and haven't been able to find a way to contact him.

The article and photographs have been shared all over the internet, including social media, but I understand that being publicly available doesn't necessarily mean they're free to reproduce.

If I clearly credit The Weather Network for the article and Photographer the photographs, can I legally include them in a published book, or would I still need explicit permission?

I'm in Canada, and the book will be commercially published, so I'd especially appreciate input from anyone familiar with Canadian copyright law or publishing permissions.

Thanks!
