Heroes Rising RP vs Beneath the Cape RP – Which Is Better? (I Played Both)

I've played both Heroes Rising RP and Beneath the Cape RP for a pretty decent amount of time so I figured I'd give my opinion. This is just how I see it after spending time on both servers.

Heroes Rising has over 100 powers and honestly some of them are really cool. There's a lot of mechanics and stuff to mess around with. But at the same time not every power feels polished. Some are kinda buggy and some probably shouldn't even be used because they hit performance pretty hard and I've seen resmon get pushed up by certain abilities. It also kinda feels a little pay to win when you can buy different tiers of superpowers or just buy a pack to pick what powers you want. That part always felt a little sketchy to me.

The clothing updates they do also aren't really anything crazy in my opinion. It doesn't always feel like a superhero server, it feels more like a city server where people just happen to have powers, which isn't a bad thing at all, I just expected a little more of the superhero vibe. I think they could spend more time making the overall experience look more visually impressive.

What surprised me is that Heroes Rising has so many more members than Beneath the Cape. Beneath the cape definitely has less powers overall but every single one I've seen feels like a ton of work went into it. The visuals are really good, the mechanics are clean, and everything is built into one connected system instead of feeling like 100 different powers from 20 different scripts all mashed together. That consistency really stands out.

The clothing in Beneath the Cape is honestly awesome. You actually see heroes flying around in outfits that look like superheroes instead of regular people wearing hoodies. It helps sell the whole experience. Sometimes the RP isn't perfect because you'll get trolls and there isn't always an admin around, but when everything is clicking it's honestly some of the most exciting RP I've played.

I also like how strict they are with getting powers. In Beneath the Cape everything comes from a serum like The Boys, so the lore stays consistent. In Heroes Rising you've got all kinds of different origins and people can end up feeling like demi gods pretty quickly. Some people probably like that, but I personally prefer the more grounded approach.

As for staff, I'd probably give the edge to Beneath the Cape even though I think they have a smaller team. Sometimes they can be a little blunt in Discord when people ask obvious questions or do something dumb, and tickets can take a little while, but the owners have always seemed pretty nice. Heroes Rising staff also seem nice overall. Tickets can be a little intimidating if you're new because they expect you to read everything first, which honestly is fair, but it can be rough for newer players. Overall I'd probably still lean toward Beneath the Cape's staff experience.

Community wise, Heroes Rising has way more people and you'll see a bigger variety of characters. The downside is that the RP itself can feel a little stale at times. You'll have people hanging around blasting AI-generated music in voice chat, standing around not really doing much, and it kinda takes away from the superhero atmosphere after a while. Beneath the Cape has fewer people but the characters tend to stick around and stay involved in the lore, which makes it easier to get invested in what's happening.

Considering Beneath the Cape only opened this year (I think?), they've honestly caught up insanely fast. They still have things to improve like any newer server, but from a development standpoint they've impressed me a lot and in my opinion have already passed Heroes Rising in a lot of areas.

At the end of the day I'd probably pick Heroes Rising if I just wanted to chill, mess around with a bunch of different powers, and have more laid back RP. If I wanted high stakes, fast paced superhero RP where everything feels more connected and polished, I'd go with Beneath the Cape.

Neither server is objectively better than the other. They just do different things well. This is just what I've noticed after playing both for a while.
