Oral Minoxidil or Sublingual?
Hey guys i have a quick question about my new routine.
I started minoxidil a few days ago at 1.25mg. I took it normally (orally) for the first two days, and yesterday (day 3), I tried letting it dissolve sublingually for the first time. My plan is to stick with the 1.25mg dose for about two weeks to make sure my body adjusts perfectly. If everything goes well, I’m planning to switch to a split routine: 1.25mg sublingual in the morning and 1.25mg sublingual at night.
I have two main questions for you guys:
- The enzyme issue: Since sublingual absorption bypasses the initial first-pass through the liver, do I still need high sulfotransferase enzyme activity in the hair follicles themselves for it to work? For context, topical minoxidil barely did anything for my scalp except for a few baby hairs. Will the sublingual route still ensure full activation through the systemic circulation (like regular oral), or do I run into the same non-responder issues as topical?
- Timeline for results: When can I realistically expect to see the very first signs of progress? I’m specifically tracking beard growth, eyelash lengthening, and thickening up a diffuse, thin mid-scalp/parting area.
Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences if anyone has switched from oral to a sublingual split!
