How to find open psych labs?

i know this is an awfully late time (esp since i’m a fourth year psych student) to contact anyone about research but aside from this one professor i’ve had for a previous class who i plan to meet tuesday about the possible research opportunity, i am not sure how to figure out what labs are open.

i have checked:

-psychology laboratories on the ucf website: has a list of research projects but i dont know which ones are currently accepting unless i contact professors one by one (hell no)

-knights research projects: i can see which ones have spots open left but there are none related to psych

anyone know what to do? i really want a student job and i don’t have experience 😭

Missing cat!

My cat is an indoor outdoor cat and lives in the Cambridge Circle neighborhood. I believe someone took them into their house because they probably thought he was homeless. Dobby is NOT homeless and has a home please bring him back to 12037 building in the Cambridge circle neighborhood. I’d greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

I feel like the biggest financial burden on my parents (vent)

I lost my bright futures. After the fall and spring semester I came up 1 credit hour short of the required 24. I’ve lost it for good, I appealed and they said “Appeal was denied because the information provided did not demonstrate a medical or emergency reason that impacted your academic performance”.

I had appealed on the reasons that last Fall I got incredibly sick. I had both severe allergies, sinus infections, and bronchitis, consecutively. For about a month and then I still were dealing with affects of bronchitis after. The peak day where I had a fever, I was throwing up, and more was the day of exam 3 I had. For that reason I missed the exam and was unable to make it up, I took the final which was right after exam 3, but I still felt like crap. I expressed all of this, I provided doctors notes, and still no granted appeal.

My dad lost his job during the spring semester. It’s just been rough and not only did I lose my bright futures, but my Pegasus scholarship. I just feel like absolute crap really, and my parents cannot afford this.

TLDR; I lost my bright futures and Pegasus scholarship. Tried to appeal and was not granted reinstatement. I got extremely sick in the fall for over a month, but even with medical paperwork I still didn’t get reinstatement.

Evening MBA

Wondering if anyone took this program and if it was 100% in person or there was some online flexibility that’s not mentioned? Monday - Thursday for 2.5 years seems not really feasible

Financial aid and proof of citizenship

Hey all,

Recently, my passport expired. When I was filling out the fafsa, I noticed I got a warning sign next to the “us citizen” question under the demographics section, I shrugged it off however because the form was processed and I don’t know, I figured I’d receive some other notification regarding that. I haven’t received any financial aid yet and perhaps I’m being impatient because others haven’t, but I’m scared that if the us citizenship thing IS the thing holding me back from getting financial aid, would the financial aid office accept an expired passport? I wasn’t born here, so that’s truly my only proof of citizenship. And I don’t think my passport would arrive before the tuition payment deadline. Thoughts?

is it okay to just go up to people and ask for their instagram?

like, i use insta as a way to text people and get to know people, but 1) can you just go up to someone and ask for their instagram? 2) if you do end up talking does that mean you have become friends or is it more like acquaintances? cuz i feel like you can become friends that way, but u also gotta make plans to hang out in person. well idk thats just my opinion, would like to know yours 👍

UCF Student Trying to Be more Social

Hello I am a transfer student to UCF. I started in the spring of this year and I was online for the spring and summer. I do currently have off campus housing but still affiliated with UCF. I will start in person classes this semester and I just want to get more out there.

I am 20 male straight, I do like acting, theatre, and I love theme parks. I have never been to a club mainly because I get very anxious and don't like going places alone. Im lowkey insecure with how I look, like my hair and stuff like that. However, I am very social and I need some friends because I know no one.

Im just looking for some good places to meet people and maybe even a gf as well. Or if there is anyone on here who would like to hang out and stuff i'm down. Just lmk. Thanks.

online honors chem 2045 instead of chem 1032??

i’m going into nursing as an honors student, and have one early morning class, and the rest of my classes are 3-7, give or take an hour. this is super frustrating for me because i’m a really busy person and want to get a job, so my classes kinda make it hard to do that. the early morning class i have is chem 1032, which is recommended for nursing, but I could also do chem 2045. doing chem 2045 would also allow me to knock an honors credit off, which is super useful because i have to have ALL of them done before i go into nursing school (which is likely to be early due to incoming credit hours). also, doing chem 2045 honors has an online option which would free up my schedule and take off that awkward morning class. is this a dumb idea considering chem 1032 is recommended for nursing??

I’m currently looking for friends as I don’t have many being an adult that’s either at work or school or both. I’m desperately in need of a study buddy that would be down to hang out and find fun study spots or just hang out in general!

Lark Central Florida Lies On Move Out Inspections

Management at lark central florida just straight up lie on their move out inspections. i just finished my lease this year and theyre trying to charge me 300+ for damages that simply do not exist. for example, attached is the picture they included on my move out inspection stating that we left our furniture damaged. but as you can see in the next picture our chair is completely fine. i have other pictures and videos showing the entire apartment and everything was left spotless. Theres other instances (both recent and old) where they mark a maintenance request as completed but the work is not done, or they just cancel them and ignore the request if you resubmit it.
its just ridiculous how much money one pays to stay here and aside from the fact the the place looks and smells like trash constantly, they try and squeeze as much money from you as possible.

if you decide to move to lark, just please take pictures of anything and everything before and after you move to this place.

I measured Wi-Fi, noise and outlets in Orlando coffee shops, here's what I found near campus

Since June I've been carrying a decibel meter and running a speed test everywhere I sit down to work. Same method every time, so the numbers compare.

What I have near campus is thin. Haraz Coffee House came in at 70 dB on a Sunday morning, which is about conversation volume. Fine for group work, much less for a call or a lecture recording.

For contrast, the quietest place I've measured in the whole metro is CityArts Cafe downtown at 51.6 dB, and the fastest Wi-Fi is BinBong in Mills 50 at 504 Mbps down. The worst was Haan Coffee on Colonial at 3.95 Mbps. I gave up and used my hotspot.

East Orlando is my blind spot. Where do you actually get work done around campus? I'll go measure whatever gets named and post the numbers.

Everything so far is at https://www.perch.coffee/

Free, no ads, nothing to sign up for. I started it because I kept driving somewhere and finding I couldn't work once I got there despite great reviews on Google.
