On the Participation of New Age

On the Participation of New Age

On the 15th of August 2026, the University of Limerick welcomed to its playing fields, A team, that statistically speaking, is composed of Palestinian persecutors. Not only are these individual players at least partly responsible for atrocities (or at the very least guilty of turning a blind eye). They were welcomed with open arms by WFDF, and free to fly the flag of ongoing genocide and colonialism in the name of “Inclusivity”.

As an Irish person, living about an hour away from the event, you’ve probably immediately guessed where my loyalties lie. But nonetheless, this post needs to be written, it needs to be in writing the level of disgrace that is currently happening on the fields of Limerick.

What should have been one of the greatest weeks in Irish Ultimate. A small country with a small Ultimate scene, where Ultimate has only been around since the late 90s; to now be hosting the biggest tournament in the world 30 years later is unreal. But this week of supposed joyousness has now been marred by the inclusion of New Age and its players.

I myself am not attending this event. In turn, denying myself a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am under no illusions that my individual boycott will have any effect on the greater conflict, (or this post for that matter) but still, I can’t in good conscience attend this event, and show my support to an organization that is turning a blind eye to one of the worst atrocities in human history.

The hypocrisy is also staggering, considering WFDF banned Russia and all Russian teams from competing at events within nanoseconds of war being declared on Ukraine. Yet, silence when it comes to Israel. An unjust war that has been going on for much longer.

WFDF themselves have also attempted to cover up this inclusion. Moving the games New Age are playing to secret fields, in an attempt to discourage protestors. Also removing all country flags next to team names on the WUCC website. So as not to let anyone in on their little secret they are harbouring an Israeli team. Ultimately this has only led me to conclude that WFDF themselves have Zionists on their board.

As in regards to the individual players, I have seen many arguments that the players themselves are merely innocent bystanders, unfairly conscripted to serve the IDF, lest they face the punishment of landing in prison for even less time then they would have to serve in the IDF itself. But I ask you this : Do you seriously believe a random selection of 22 middle to upper class Israelis, who grew up inundated with Zionist propaganda and social pressure to serve their beloved homeland didn’t gleefully jump at the opportunity? ; Or are they only following orders?

To go into more detail we can pick an example. Jakob Rheins , a Jewish American player on this New Age roster, moved to Israel, and joined the IDF. Am I seriously supposed to believe this adult man, so deep in the zionist sauce that he moves half way across the world to serve in the military, isn’t gleefully serving?, and probably hasn’t contributed in any meaningful way to the persecution of Palestinians?

(Source: https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/sports/article-794364)

At least with Russia you could argue the average Russian themselves had nothing to do with the war. The same can not be said for Israel. The average Israeli is totally complicit in this genocide and to think otherwise is to bury your head in the sand.

I see the argument that none of this is really, truly, confirmed. And that a man is not guilty by a statistic alone, but seriously? I’m supposed to be fine with these players in my country, despite pretty strong statistical evidence that they have contributed to an unjust war, just because it’s not 100% confirmed?

It pains me that the Irish Flying Disc Association shares an acronym with the Israeli Flying Disc Association but it pains me even more to know that the IFDA themselves are gleefully supporting this war and the IDF. Making instagram posts shouting out individual soldiers, and creating a limited edition disc to mark Israel’s great exploits in executing children. Don’t blame them people, those terrorist children had pebbles and all the poor Israelis had to defend themselves were tanks.

At this point, I do lay partial blame at the feet of the organisers themselves. Yes it is ultimately WFDF’s responsibility to ban Israeli representation, but I think the organisers themselves would have had a fairly solid idea that this would not be the case. Going forward I hope they boycott hosting any future WFDF events.

I imagine most of you reading this are White Americans, and have no cultural context of what it’s like to live in the shadow of colonialism. The pain I feel for the Palestinians, and what the majority of Irish feel for the Palestinians is real and deep. It goes beyond meaningless virtue signalling. It’s personal. To imagine that the Palestinians are currently facing a similar situation our ancestors have faced in the past is unbearable. To imagine that my great grandfather, who served in the IRA, would be fighting against the type of men on this New Age roster, who we are now welcoming with open arms to our shores is just downright unbelievable. Not to mention, that a significant portion of our country is still occupied.

It has brought me to tears, to think that not only are these players in Ireland, not only is an Israeli flag flying, not only are the individual players themselves most likely partly responsible for the genocide, not only is WFDF and most in attendance turning a blind eye and attempting to cover it up, but they are playing on fields I have played on myself. Fields that some of the most beloved moments of my life have happened on. They have come to my home, and ruined it. I guess it’s only in their nature.

What to do about teams that intentionally and continuously double team in zone?

I've seen a number of teams use this tactic to intentionally disrupt offense, knowing it's against the rules and never adjusting even when fouls are called. Been discussing with some friends the best way to combat this. It's very much taking advantage of the rules, but the teams that do this gain an advantage so they keep doing it. How do we, in a self-officiated sport, stop getting screwed by this?

We're trying to streamline ultimate team management and operations - looking for feedback and 5 college teams to test it this fall!

Hello everyone - with the US fall college season starting soon, I wanted to share Ulti-Mate, a tool we've been working on to help streamline team operations.

I've been playing since 2012 and while organizing teams, I've spent many hours creating spreadsheets, building practice plans from scratch, and sending repeat logistic, coordination, and reminder messages every week. I always felt like there had to be a more efficient and cohesive way to manage ultimate team operations, so recently some friends and I decided to try and tackle this problem.

Our current features:

- create a reusable library of drills, activities, and locations
- intuitive drag and drop practice plans you can save as templates
- single and recurring events with RSVPs, attendance, and season trends
- film review with timestamped comments right on the video timeline

Everyone automatically gets a free personal workspace to try out the features - or sign up for a team plan, which adds collaboration for your entire team so everyone contributes to and sees the same schedule, practice plans, and film reviews. Learn more here.

If you would like to stay updated with our progress or suggest useful features, come join our Discord, follow us on Instagram @try.ulti.mate, and check out our weekly Feature Friday blog posts.

Finally, we're looking for five US college teams to put the app through a rigorous test this fall! We'll help you onboard, provide weekly direct support, and prioritize your feature requests. If you're on team leadership and interested, DM me or email us at hello@ulti-mate.app.

Goat v La Fotta Spirit Question

I'm watching the replay of Goat v La Fotta and wondering if La Fotta is known for bad spirit?

I'm genuinely unfamiliar with European ultimate but my general understanding is that US/Canadians are MORE physical and chippy than Europeans, even in high-level men's play.

Despite that though there are some TERRIBLE contest calls by La Fotta in the 2nd half (first on the jump ball in the endzone, then on the marking foul where the defender acknowledges there is contact and then contests anyway).

Is that a typical thing for this team?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er7KfbPj8Ec

Time stamps since everyone seems insistent to have them:
52:33 bad foul call by the D
1:03:05, pointless travel call
1:06:10 awful contest on a clear foul
1:15:15 marking foul where the defender agrees he bumped a thrower in the act of throwing and contests anyway.

I'd add that this was a great game and La Fotta deserved to win it, just surprised by the shitty spirit.

Question: How does USAU check the geographic eligibility?

In 99% cases, teams obey this rule.

But USAU didn't ask teams to submit the proof of residence, right?

Is there any precedent that team being rejected or punished by this rule?

What will happen if someone complains a team violating this rule?

What will happen if Tokay or someone else try to build a super pickup team in usau?

No lateral power

I've been trying to push to get selected for some higher quality teams for a few years now without any success, and have come to realise the biggest weakness in my game is probably my ability to change directions. I have a pretty good top speed when running in a straight line, but as soon as I try to run in proper cutting shapes I look like I'm not putting in any effort, even though to me it feels like I'm going as fast as I can.

I slip over when changing directions a lot. If I ever have to jump soon after I turn it feels like I have bricks tied to my feet. If I know I'm going to have to slow down to change directions, the fastest I can run looks nothing like a sprint. Even things like pivoting to throw a break feel like I'm doing it in slow motion.

I've been doing drills that require changes of direction for as long as I've been playing but they haven't helped. It feels like when I'm doing them, I'm just practicing getting better at changing directions slower than everyone else.

I think I need to break it down to the basics, and work on simple exercises that build strength and explosiveness, but I have no idea where to even begin. I was a runner growing up, I know all the theory behind technique to running fast, but I just don't have the muscles developed to do it over short distances or as soon as it's not in a straight line.

I would love some suggestions and advice. Preferably things I can do outside of a gym, but at this point I'll try anything

Nike Vapor cleat experiences

I'm looking to buy new cleats, and found that some of the Nike Vapor models are available to buy online and ship to my country. Specifically, the Nike Vapor Pro 1 and the Nike Vapor Speed 3. However I couldn't find many reviews for either online, nor very good comparisons (the price is comparable)
I was wandering if anyone here has used either and can vouch for/against them, or help decide between them

Any frisbee players ever gotten posterior tibialis tendon reconstruction surgery?

Hey folks - I have posterior tibialis tendon disfunction and am about to get surgery for it. Basically a tendon that wraps around my ankle is all frayed and a little torn and won’t repair itself, so my arch is collapsing. Conservative measures were unsuccessful. It’s a little unusual to get surgery this soon but I won’t be able to get back to playing (or running or jumping or whatever else) without it so needless to say it’s scheduled for next week. It’s a pretty tough surgery involving a tendon transfer (they can’t just sew up the bad one) and then breaking my heel and shifting it to get my foot back in alignment. It’s about 10-12 months full recovery - 6 weeks no weight bearing, 6 weeks in a walking cast / boot.

Normally you don’t see this in people my age (26F) and normally it doesn’t happen as acutely and suddenly as it did for me. I have an an abundance of very strong and incredible friends or frisbee acquaintances who have had ACL surgery so I’m getting some recovery advice from them, but I’m curious if any frisbee people have dealt with this specific issue. I haven’t known anyone who’s experienced it AFAIK.

If you’ve dealt with this, how was your recovery? What was your experience? Is it really 10-12 months? Can I fly out to regionals to watch my team and go to the Jungle concert at red rocks while I’m non weight bearing 4 weeks after surgery or is that insane? TIA!

This is the field New Age and Wall City are "currently" playing on at WUCC

New Age and Wall City are currently having scores reported "live" from field 19 (pictured at 13:25 Irish time). Reportedly the game was moved to thwart local protest attempts.

Who are the all-time WUCC all G+A stat leaders?

I am going to release a data pull showing the all time WUCC goal+assist leaders. Who do you think will be in the top 5?

Major footnote, at this time, we only have the stats from 2010, 2018, and 2022.
