ULTIMATE GUITAR - My account literally says “Lifetime PRO+” and I’m still getting ads everywhere

I’ve had an Ultimate Guitar account since 2018 and honestly never thought much about it because it’s just always worked.

Recently I started noticing I’m getting hammered with ads:

  • giant homepage ads,
  • sidebar ads,
  • top banners,
  • and constant PRO+ promotions.

At first I thought maybe I was misremembering my subscription, but I dug through my old emails and found:

  • an original purchase,
  • then a $9.99 upgrade a few minutes later,
  • and literally no recurring billing since.

Then I checked my account page and it explicitly says:
“UG PRO+ — Lifetime”

It ALSO specifically mentions:
“2+ million ad-free tabs & chords”

…but while logged in I’m still seeing full display ads and huge embedded homepage ads.

I attached screenshots because honestly I feel like I’m going insane.

Did other older users get grandfathered lifetime accounts too? And are you guys also getting ads now?

I’m genuinely not trying to ragebait here — I’m mostly just confused how a lifetime “ad-free” account ended up looking like this.

Pedal interface drops connection frequently and the link to reconnect (in Settings) is cut off bottom of screen

I use a DONNER foot pedal to the app since the auto scroll is now unreliable.

After initial setup, the pedal worked amazing. But now any time the iPad goes in/out of sleep mode the connection breaks. Then the setup screen partially cuts off the link to reconnect. Extremely frustrating and terrible at live gigs!

Only way around it - I use two hands to maneuver the screen enough to access the link/menu. And takes a stressful few mins trying and praying I can make it work.

Anyone else:

- losing pedal connection

- seeing Settings/Pedal Interface screen cutoff settings/links

Suggestion: official way to view official tabs in Guitar Pro

Hi! Is there any way this could be feasible? The UG player is very limited compared to Guitar Pro 8, we all know that the tabs are in GP format internally, and I need some features that the UG player doesn't have (multi-track view, for example).

HOW TO GET UG TABS WITHOUT PAYING?

i first used this app when i was yunger and could enjoy of the open access to some of the tabs but nowadays its all "pay for it"

i'd just feel more privileged if could get full (or most of) access to the UG tabs without paying, like an APK or somenthing to unlock the tabs

Can't click on tabs anymore

I suddenly can't click on tabs to jump from section to section anymore. Now there's a bar on the bottom of the page where i can chose where the song starts to play, which is way more annoying and less precise. I also tried it with adblock disabled to no avail.

Anyone know how i can fix this? I'm on Firefox, Win11

Edit: Bug seems to have been fixed. If you have the same problem try u/tV00NCc11aZH90HMLHlO's solution which he has commented under this post, tho i can't guarantee it will work.

The difference in price between iPhone and computer prices is freaking insane!!

I'm not able to sign up for the subscription on my phone, and I was thinking "Oh, $25? That's not too bad, let me try on my computer." I look and it cost THREE TIMES AS MUCH! That's absolutely ridiculous. Also, in what world is 25 equal to 75% of 100? Get your math checked out. Doesn't apple take a significant cut of purchases made through the app store? Wouldn't it be cheaper to not go through Apple?

Tabs low quality when full screen

Hello

Been using ultimate for some time but today everytime I go full screen the quality of the tabs drops to be barely readable instead of the sharp normal writing. Has it happened to you?

Pro tabs with capo

Am I the only one who thinks the way that EVERY SINGLE song that uses a capo is written in the most needlessly difficult way? Why for example if the capo is on the 2nd fret, do I need to ADD 2 to EVERY note of the song? If the tab says 12, maybe I'm crazy, but my instinct is to fret on the 12th fret. I get that the 2nd fret becomes the equivalent of the open strings but isn't it way easier to just remember THAT whenever it comes up than to mentally add 2 to every single thing on the screen? Because that's where the capo is PHYSICALLY LOCATED on the guitar? I shouldn't have to play catch up through any song I'm learning because I'm so crazy that when I see the number 12 I think it means the number 12 and not 12+2.

Unable to suggest edits?

I have been writing and editing tabs for years, but two years ago i changed my username to be more anonymous. I lost all my UG IQ points in that process but I have been re-gaining it, but it seems like I no longer have the option to edit tabs? Do we need a minimum number of iq points to edit?
