Staggered seating makes it possible to fit an entire graduating class into Tsongas and seems well organized.

The handling of friends and family is quite the opposite.

Nobody knows where to go, or where anyone else in their party is - once through security and they PARK IN THE LOBBY.

Repeat on dismissal and there are 3000 people on the front steps - all going opposite directions.

I have to wonder if just assigned seating would alleviate half the milling.

Leaving it up to the graduates to provide even an iota of instruction lead to this.

Every Granny had to take the same picture of *their* kid on the concourse, stairwell and breezeway.

Then they're aggravated at all the traffic in front of them?

How do I get my vape inside? Are there metal detectors? And could I potentially hide a bag under my gown or just stuff my vape somewhere on my body lmao

For context, I'm a psychology major and got a blue tassel. Is that correct? I thought I was supposed to receive a white or gold tassel.

I'm coming to UML this fall, and I wanted to know if anyone has any tips for me. My intended major is Applied Biomedical Sciences with a premed focus, I want to go into diagnostics and ive already talked to a lot of staff. I'm also going to be living on campus in a dorm with my best friend.

Some other info, I am disabled and am trying to save for a better mobility device. I'm also queer, and have a pretty good supply of scholarships.

Are there things I should do or avoid? Things to prep myself, or look out for on campus? I saw some people talking about there being a neonazi and other creeps hanging out around there as well.

I ordered my cap and gown and received those and the hood in the package. Should I have gotten a tassel or anything? Just want to make sure I have everything I need

I was told its for citizenship, which is weird because this my 3rd school in 15 years I've never had that happen. I was given code 264 I believe from the Massachusetts office of fin aid, who says mass grant plus wont kick in next year and it shouldn't have paid this year but it did. I ran out of pell last year so I'm hoping thats the actual reason. Solution center isnt sure what its for or if and when it can get fixed. Ive been ao stressed about this. Anyone experience this? Ive tried emailing anyone and everyone no luck.

It might be a little late in the semester, but I wanted to share an idea inspired by my own online thrifting experiences—especially noticing how even nonprofits like Goodwill successfully sell donated items on these platforms.

When students move out of the dorms, they often end up discarding a surprising number of perfectly good items. Figuring out which ones still hold real value can be tricky—especially once you factor in e-commerce shipping costs, platform fees, and buyer appeal. For example, bulky items like mini fridges are expensive and difficult to ship profitably, while things like used bedsheets or half a board game usually aren’t appealing to online buyers.
Here’s the concept: A student-run e-commerce club would accept donations of used dorm items and resell the higher-value pieces on platforms like eBay, Poshmark, or ThredUp. Club members interested in e-commerce or entrepreneurship would gain hands-on experience by deciding what to accept, researching fair pricing, managing inventory, taking product photography, writing compelling descriptions, handling customer interactions (including returns and best-offer requests), choosing sales strategies like auctions or advertising, and fulfilling orders.

Any lower-value or bulky items that don’t make sense to ship—such as microwaves, refrigerators, lamps, or similar pieces—could be sold through a simple on-campus pop-up sale during move-out or donated to a local organization like Goodwill.

All proceeds would go directly to the campus food pantry. It’s a true win-win: students get an easy, responsible way to clear out their belongings, club members build practical business skills they can list on their résumés (complete with metrics like “Managed X sales and fulfilled Y orders for a campus nonprofit”), and the food pantry receives additional funding to support our community.
