Parking

I have heard parking at the U is a mess. I am staring classes this coming week and have an electric vehicle. Any advice on how this works? Best places to charge? Are those slots usually full? Will U permit work for those lots and spaces?

Scholarship Renewal Notification

Has anyone heard anything back about their merit scholarship being renewed?

I was told at the end of last semester that notification would be given mid June to early July. It is now August and classes start next week and I still haven't heard anything.

I do know that awards are supposed to be hitting tuition accounts within the next couple of days, but will I really not know until then if my scholarship has been renewed? Or if I haven't heard anything back should I just assume that it has been?

I have been so unbelievably stressed about this for like 4 months now :(

Overnight Guests at Dorms

Hello! I am an incoming student living in the dorms this fall, and had a question about the overnight guest policy. It says that the guest needs to register online, and that you can't have more than 10 nights a semester. Is this something that is very strictly enforced or is it more of a don't ask, don't tell kind of situation among the RA's? Thanks!

Employees and tuition benefits for med school

My husband is a student at the medical school and I am an RN. Today, he came home and told me that if I work for the U of U he will get a huge tuition discount. Is there anyone who could confirm this? If so, how much would we save on the tuition? Im resistant to leaving my current RN position because it's very competitive to get into and it's my dream job, but I may reconsider it if its worth it.

Give me the parking truth

I’m starting classes this month - I’m going to have classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I haven’t bought a parking pass yet because I want the absolute truth about parking. I have to drive with how far away I live, but I want to know which passes are worth it, and if, even with a pass, am I gonna have a miserable time finding parking? Just give me the honest truth even if it sucks

How the heck do you pay for this?

I currently owe $16,650 for my first Fall Semester. The University is giving me nothing. What do I do?

I'm worried I will have to drop out due to the lack of support. How do people afford this? I thought UofU wasn't a rich-kid school, but it looks like I was probably wrong.

I have also completed the FAFSA, which has turned up almost nothing; financial aid is telling me everything I already know. Nothing is helpful, and I refuse to take a private loan. I've been applying to every scholarship I can; nothing so far, not even rejections, just nothing.

I came to the U with a 3.99 GPA from my last school year at SLCC, yet I feel I haven't been treated as if I matter. What do I do?

Postgrad experience as a University of Utah School of Computing Graduate

For any recent graduates(anywhere in the last 10+ years) of the Computer Science, Data Science how has your postgrad experience been as a computer science program graduate(bs, ms, phd)? Do you think the curriculum prepared you well for industry? is the alumni community active and how is networking and navigating opportunities both inside and outside utah eg. California, New York, Washington, outside the US? How do you think the program and advising could be improved? What advice do you have for current and future students?

Tuition

Yo.

So I’ve accepted my FAFSA aid and I got grants which I’ve learned are auto applied to my charges and stuff. (Right?)

My questions are, first, do I have a separate account that that money sits in?

And second, can I put off paying my tuition until after I graduate?

Any information helps thanks

Missed dorm deadline, looking for budget off-campus housing advice near Songdo (~300k KRW budget)

Hi everyone,

I'm a freshman starting at Utah Asia Campus this Fall. I made a mistake during application and applied for main campus housing instead of UAC, and now the male dorms in Songdo are completely full for the start of the semester.

My budget is strictly around 300'000KRW/month (around 220USD/month). I know central Songdo officetels are way out of that range, so I'm looking into off-campus Goshiwons / student living-tels nearby (like Yeonsu-gu / Dongchun).

Questions for current/past UAC students:

-Have any of you lived off-campus in a Goshiwon near campus or 2–3 subway stops away?

-Do UAC students have a KakaoTalk group or Discord where people look for off-campus roommates/room-shares?

-Are there any recommendations based on personal experience? If so could you give advices?

-How is the commute from nearby areas like Yeonsu-gu to the IGC campus?

Would appreciate every reply.

packages address

I'm an new international undergraduate student, I haven't entered campus yet but

I want to buy some stuff from Amazon to ship to the school(or my dorm if possible), where should I set the address and where can I pickup my packages? And is it okay if the packages have nothing to do with school (stuff for my dorm)?

Why are campus food truck vendors circulating a petition to protect themselves?

A petition is circulating to "Protect Local Food Truck Vendors at The University of Utah [1]." The petition text says, "The University of Utah is making changes to food truck operations on campus that could force current food truck owners to lose their spots" (emphasis mine).

The petition looks like it may have been created by the food truck operators, as many of them have a link to it in their Instagram profiles.

Olive's Oasis posted about it, saying, "We respectfully ask the University of Utah to reconsider its decision to transition to a third-party food truck management program [2]."

In a later post, they said: "Moving daily food truck operations to a third-party company raises concerns that smaller, independent trucks may have a harder time competing or maintaining the direct access they’ve had to campus. We hope the University will continue supporting the local businesses that have been part of the campus community for years [3]."

Bento posted: "Just 2 days ago, we were informed that our contract would be terminated in two weeks-just right before the start of the new school year [4]."

My question is, does anyone have any details about what is actually going on?
