Respondent is terrible

I've been using respondent for around a month now and it is truly awful. You are limited to completing 3-5 screeners per day, and will be lucky if you pass one of those every few days. Some of them are 40 questions with multiple written response questions. Once you finally pass one of them, you're almost certainly going to be moved to a second screener. Once you give them even more free data with the second screener, you will either be screened out after two rounds, or it will say the study is no longer available!

They give you a limited amount of daily screeners and let you waste them on studies that have expired! You can't see the date beforehand, so you just waste your time and quota on two rounds of expired screener! You do not get compensated with another slot for this.

Am I just unlucky? Has anyone gotten even a penny from this website? It seems predatory.

How is everyone REALLY passing Google's 20-tester / 14-day requirement? Be honest.

Since Google made the 20-testers-for-14-continuous-days closed test mandatory for

new personal developer accounts, getting an app published has turned into a

scavenger hunt for testers before you can even launch.

Everyone seems to cope the same way: reciprocal "I'll test yours if you test mine"

groups. It technically works, but:

- Nobody actually opens the app. It's 20 installs that sit there for 14 days.

- The moment the timer's up, everyone uninstalls.

- You get zero real feedback — which was supposed to be the whole point.

- Testers drop mid-cycle and you fail the 14-day continuous requirement.

I've been sketching out an idea to fix this — testers matched to your app's niche,

one synchronized 14-day cohort so everyone's on the same clock, daily check-ins,

and structured feedback at the end instead of a dead install. Still just a concept;

I want to know if I'm even solving the right problem before going further.

So, genuinely asking the people living this:

  1. How are you hitting the 20/14 requirement today — reciprocal groups, friends,

    paid testers, something else?

  2. What's the actual worst part: finding testers, keeping them 14 days, or that the

    "feedback" is worthless?

  3. If real matched testers existed, would you rather PAY for that, or EARN rewards

    by testing other people's apps?

Not pitching anything — mostly trying to figure out if this pain is universal or if

I'm in a bubble.

Update to Dashboard - How does it work?

I've been on usertesting for several years, but my dashboard just tonight updated to show another section that says 'surveys and more' next to 'available tests'. It looks like there are $1 surveys, but also $10 tests that include the typical screen and voice recording are also listed under there.

How are they different from the ones shown under 'available tests'?

Are they meant to be 30 mins or less like the standard $10 ones unless otherwise stated?

I completed one and it was basically the same, but the widget was a little different and there was no choice to pause the test. So basically if I do those, I have to make sure I can just finish the whole thing without pausing or else I have to exit and forfeit it?

Audio test question

What do you do when you’re in the middle of the test (audio) and the website they want you to test won’t open? I still get the questions about the site and that’s working fine, but the website they are asking questions about said something like unauthorized. I continued the test but verbally stated I am unable to make a judgement as the test website isn’t opening. Has this happened to anyone?

Reschedule Request

Hi received a reschedule request for dates and times next week. The interview was supposed to be 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM on 7/2/2026, and they submitted the reschedule request at 2:52 AM EDT on 7/2/26. I declined the interview because the times did not work for me that the researcher proposed.

I have the following questions:

  1. Will I receive a bad rating because I could not reschedule the interview?
  2. Am I eligible for $10.00 compensation since they asked to reschedule less than 24 hours before the scheduled interview on 6:30 PM EDT on 7/2/2026?

Thank you!

I built a free hub for Play Store developers who need testers

I built TestLaunch because I keep seeing Play Store developers posting that they need testers, feedback, or people to join their testing links.

TestLaunch is a free place to list your app, share your testing link, and let testers find projects that need help.

You can add your app name, platform, category, test duration, contact email, description, testing link, and what kind of feedback you are looking for.

The goal is simple: give Play Store developers one clean page to share instead of chasing scattered tester posts everywhere.

It is brand new, so feedback is welcome.

Looking for active DeFi users to test an early-stage yield app (~30 min, paid 10 USDC)

Small team here, building a mobile yield app. We want eyes on it from people who actually use this stuff and not just our friends telling us it's great.

It's a quick video call: you share your screen and walk through the app on your phone while we watch where you trip up.

You'll need your smartphone, it's a mobile app. Nothing's real, so no wallet, no email, no money involved. We'll ask questions as you go. There are no wrong answers; we just want to find the confusing bits.

Good fit if you've used a couple of lending or yield protocols and have opinions about them. Extra points if you've ever been burned by a confusing UI or felt lost in DeFi.

~30 min, paid for your time.

Comment here if interested!

Connection issues?

I just did a test this morning on Edge and it popped up with a banner saying I had connection issues which might affect my upload, but I've checked my connection and it's absolutely fine. Anyone else got this?

Hey everyone! I’ve created this platform named Feedbacked for testers and startups to join, where testers take a survey on the app to make $1 per completed survey, and startups put their app on the site to be tested. I’m looking for testers who will sign up and verify their email (make sure to check spam if you don’t see it) using this link: Feedbacked Link

Payouts are in the site and after 3 surveys are taken

Intellizoom Live Test Issue

Hi All. I had a live test scheduled for today on Intellizoom. I noticed it dropped off of my dashboard so I assumed it was cancelled which has happened before and when I tried to login to the test it said the study was full. I then receive an email saying I didn’t show up to the interview. Has anything like this happened to others? Sound I email customer service so I don’t have bad marks on my account? I know IZ is a little more lax with this stuff but it’s still annoying this happened.

Usertesting Recorder Messing Up

Today out of nowhere every time I try to take a test it always messes up on my microphone check. It will register as it hears me but then states that there is a problem with my microphone and close out the test altogether.

I am looking for 50 (IOS only) testers for experimental app we are using for development. The goal is to conduct a quick, topline test as to whether or not our model is beginning to accurately recognize ‘taste’ based on limited inputs. App: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tastepilot/id6771131982

To recieve your $5 Venmo: DM me a screenshot of your "Share" Genome, your Venmo username, and a couple sentences on the accuracy.

*I will try to get to these as fast as I can, capped at first 50 for now

"Reschedule Request" for Live interview

Picked up an email for this 45mins after it was sent this morning. Link in the email took me to an empty dashboard. Is this a way of cancelling an interview without it being recorded as cancelled ?
