How long have you been a fan of Utada Hikaru?

Hi, I’m curious how long have you all been a fan of Utada Hikaru? Personally the first time i heard one of her songs was in Kingdom Hearts in 2003 when i watched the opening of the game, i immediately thought her voice was so unique and distinguishable. Fast forward to 2005 that when i became officially a fan of her when she released the“Be My Last” single, i really loved the MV and her look that was consistent in all her tv appearances at that time.

I remember Ultra Blue was a big deal when it was released and her concert “Utada United” was the first time i cared really for a concert and watched it from start to finish.

Do y’all call her Hikaru Utada or Utada Hikaru?

Now that I am writing this, this just might be different depending on what country y’all are in because I know some places have last name first or last name last.

But in case it’s not cause of that, what do y’all call her by and why? I am curious because I always thought it was Hikaru Utada, and that’s it.

Your Top 3 Hikaru Songs

A question like this is more interesting with an artist like Ms. Hikki because her work is so diverse and versatile. I don't think there are clear favorites with the fanbase because of that and I love that. It's a testament of her insane talent as a writer and a musician.

Mine is:

Manatsu No Tooriame: One of my all time favorite songs by any artist. What a touching tribute to her late mother. It came out in a year of loss for me and it really helped me cope. I cried the first time I heard it even though I didn't know what she was saying in the lyrics until i read the translation later on but the feeling she conveyed reached me and touched me. Until this day when the first note of the bridge hits ( Kigi ga mebuku..) I get goosebumps all over my body. I'm forever thankful she gave us this intimate and personal song.

Heart Station: The theme of communication without even talking is one I understand and relate to. I've been there. She crafted an amazing atmosphere with the production. It's Tokyo, it's late at night, you're lonely, you're feeling wistful. She perfectly conveys that.

Colors: One of the best things about those artists who solely write their own music without help of other writers that write for many artists. Is that they write such unique songs you don't hear anywhere else. It's really hard to describe this song it's unlike anything ever. what a melody what a production.

queer utada songs?

hi! in cause u think this question seems familiar, its cause i asked this like 2 years ago. hikki is still my top artist and literally my fav of all time. ive been going through her discography again and i like picking up on queer themes and i figured, why not ask here again? are there any songs u interpret as queer? is it cause of the lyrics? symbolism? a music video? live performance maybe? pure vibes? literally anything. and also if u go "utada would not write about that" please refer to hikaru utada coming out as non binary. and tomodachi. and nijikan dake no vacance. and blue. and like everything else... we are not gonna have this argument again. anyways, have a nice day everyone!

OMG Her debut single 3”(8cm) Single CD jacket is so cool 😭🥹

There is 12” Maxi-CD version too but that jacket is not so good Hikaru herself said too She said “Why they chose this picture” (The last pic is the 12” Maxi-CD jacket)

“This is the one” not on spotify after a month :(

This is getting serious. This is my first real post on here but I’ve loved hikaru utada for a very long time and i’m going bonkers. This is the one hasn’t been on spotify since the mess with the remasters, and we must cause an uproar. I know I can stream it many other places, but I am a victim of loving my convenience.

WE MUST RIOT. FILL THE STREETS.

I CALL UPON YOU ALL TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD AND END THIS REIGN OF THIS IS THE ONE ERASURE FROM SPOTIFY.

edit: obviously this is just a joke and hyperbolic 😭 but it really is a shame ‘This is the one’ is missing on so many streaming platforms

I don't known to said my words, but well, I going to say that a Native 4K version of "traveling (2001)" 2002 MV is possible, but very unlikely to happen.

I seen the "behind the scenes" of Traveling posted on YouTube to confirm this and I found 3 points:
- The CGI was (probably) made using SoftImage; also, they're used practical effects and true stop-motion.
- All scenes made in Real-Life are shot in 35mm (aprox. 4K-6.5K) using an ARRIFLEX 435/ES camera. (idk)
- It was edited using Discreet Flame (Autodesk Frame) with GENARTS Sapphire Plugins on (poss) SGI PCs.

How is the 2 problems; lack of interest, both commercial and artistic value to preserve it.
2º, is the lack of preservation of digital production files to preserve the original feeling.
(any new information of that is completely welcome to talk, discuse and diffuse. ;D)

Upload of [ Making of "Traveling" ] to prove it ;)

the "Traveling" 2002 MV itself: (I previously forgor it)
