Hello, I’m a freshman physics major and somehow had made no friends so far. 😔

To be honest I commute so I haven’t been staying for the afternoon school events like the after party on Monday. Despite that I have been interacting with people all over and made no progress.

I do plan to come for the activity fair next Wednesday and interacting with more people tomorrow before, during and after class

Also: It’s hot outside, be careful everyone (I keep feeling like I’m about to pass out😅)

I've always found it really courteous of people who usually sit at the back/corner and eat or drink without bothering anyone.

But today, this guy sat in the middle of a silent class where only the teacher was speaking. He brought out his packaged food and was trying (and miserably failing) to tear open the crinkly plastic wrapper for a good minute and get his hand in it. It was annoyingly loud and distracting. I was in the immediate front row and the secondhand embarrassment almost led my introverted ass to ask him to give up on it already (while wishing he stops that second). However, he kept going on for another few seconds which felt like forever. Eventually stopped but ofc every time he tried grabbing again it was loud again.

Not sure if it's just me but I feel like this is pretty basic etiquette that we should know as adults/college students.

I did call the clubhouse and asked if I can place these things in one of the study rooms, if I am allowed to do that, anyone can visit the front office to pick these things up. You can get to the office through the elevator.

I’m available every Saturday and Monday, and until 3:30PM every day other than that.

My best advice: make a friend that owns a car.

“Hey if I’m on your commute path to Uta, would you mind picking me up (insert general day/times) [when it’s convenient for you] in exchange for some gas money/other valuable service”.

I know some of you still have mom and dad dropping you off and honestly, that’s bomb, but those that don’t have that luxury, take my advice.

All 50k of us similar cant bring our own cars.
And there aren’t enough bike racks for those that do live on campus and can bear the heat.

Go knock in your neighbors doors, ask your classmates, hell, “reconnect” with an old high school friend if you are local.

1 parking spot could be the difference of missing class. The time and stress it will save you is invaluable as a student balancing multiple responsibilities.

I am only enrolled in 2 classes this semester, that is because I JUST got admission to UTA about 2 months ago, I had holds (now lifted). I am technically a senior (by credits) but I am registered as a Junior here. (Mechanical Engineering)

I was in my waitlisted class today and I saw so many people with 10-12 classes on Canvas! I am number 1 in the waitlist for EE 2320 since like last week. Every other class I want to add to my schedule is either more waitlisted options or time conflicts! I just need to 3 more classes to even be a full time student and for financial aid! I have talked with my advisor and was told to add my self to the waitlists and to wait for more classes to be added but I doubt I have time! Can someone please advise me on what I need to do! 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭

I got lost on Monday morning 😭 Being new to this school, I’m still trying to figure out where *literally anything* is. I ended up asking a girl at the Central Library front desk if she knew where the building for my sociology class was cause I was 👏 panicking 👏

Afterwards, I came back and asked if she could help me figure out where my other classes were too. Y’all… she didn’t just write down the buildings. She circled every single one, mapped out a route for me, and even showed me which ways would be faster to get from class to class. Honestly made me feel better. 🥹

I probably would’ve been wandering around campus and missed half my classes 😭😂 I don’t remember her name, but she was brunette and wore glasses and was wearing a green or maybe blue hoodie???. Sorry I'm not good with names to faces

First semester at UTA, showed up to campus 40 minutes before my class! Missed my entire 9:30AM - 10:20AM class because I couldn't find parking for OVER AN HOUR. So many big orange wedges acting as road closures, faculty/staff parking, staff parking that doesn't open until 5PM, or lots that are just entirely full with not a single spot open! I am beyond frustrated.

this is prob a stupid question but im a freshman and just had my first 2 day of classes, and im wondering if for the seats i chose on my first day am i supposed to stick to those seats? Or does everyone just sit on a new seat at least the first week til we feel comfortable with our seats? Just trying to avoid an awkward situation in case i sit on someone elses seat.

Questioning how some of you got into university.

on the dineoncampus website it acts like chickfila is open from 10 am to 10 pm, but when my friend and i tried to go yesterday at like 3 pm and it was closed. does anyone know when it’ll officially be open?

While sitting in my diff eq/linear algebra class, this guy next to me said he was gonna switch to another professor since this one just reads off the slides and doesn’t really teach
