Isshin Ashina (by maestroalverd AKA me)

Don't know if it's ok to post it here too but...

This is an artwork showcasing Isshin Ashina (from "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice" game) in the artstyle of Takehiko Inoue.

This was a practice drawing (so I mostly traced over the outline from the reference image as seen in the 2nd image) where I tried to analyse the artstyle of Takehiko Inoue.

The most fun part was definitely rendering the hair strands which I have always noticed having a serene flow to them in most of Takehiko Inoue's artworks.

Without spoilers: is there a natural stopping point in Vagabond?

I usually prefer reading completed stories, but since Vagabond isn't finished yet, I'm wondering if there's a point that feels like the end of a major part of the story. I'm looking for something similar to a major turning point or the end of a big arc that could almost work as an ending on its own, instead of stopping in the middle of an ongoing conflict.

Please keep it completely spoiler-free.

Is collecting the Manga still worth it?

I heard it's the best story ever, so I bought the first volume Vizbig edition, but my friend just told me that they haven't released a chapter since 2015. Is the story still good enough that I should just collect them all and read them?

Sharing a new update from my Vagabond Fan Trailer Project 😁 Feel free to share any suggestions or opinions🙏 Also do let me know, if you want me to include any manga panel adaptations, and I will see if I can try to include it into my screenplay

I just finished the first volume.

Inoue is simply phenomenal; both his writing and art style are perfect. It's simply one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in manga, especially the beginning that tells the story of Takezo and Matahashi is incredible, watching Takezo hiding in the forest, surviving, acting like an animal, killing enemies with his wooden sword.

PERFECTION.

This volume contains 10 chapters and I'm eager to continue and buy the rest of the volumes; this ending makes me urgently need the next one.

Ending or not??

So I’m wondering if the final manga exhibition whatever in 2008 (I think) was really the true ending. I’ve seen people say it’s a “what if” something like that but ahem ahem dont clown me but ai says it is the true ending/true epilogue.

If it is canon to the manga; Doesn’t that kinda ruin the so called tension? like knowing what happens…I don’t know just kinda ticks me off. Him winning the fight and then he dies and otsu also dies; both them dying single and happy or sad we don’t know and then them reuniting in the afterlife…it’s not bad don’t get me wrong but still. (And this is all regarding the fact IF it is canon to the manga/the true epilogue if you get what I’m saying)

The way of the sword as a philosophy

I have been reading the manga and the more I read the more I feel that the way of the sword is not just a competition for whose gonna be the greatest sword man but the journey itself appear to be somehow an alternative to stoicisim, the journey requires alot of discipline, self reflection, and readiness to facing obstacles , to stand tall while facing death and the journey itself seems to reveal your charcter. I like how matahashi comes to show a contrast of musashi way of living on the way of the sword the story becomes deeper , I believe matahashi represents someone with deep values but still trembling on his journey as he looks up to musashi and trying to become better which makes him feel relatable to me

is Musashi overatted ¿

now this is not to say Musashi is bad but to ask the question us he far & away the greatest swordsman ever you hear people talk on his unbeaten record & his wins over the greats of his era but they do not talk about the fashion he won them in (I think Vagabond as good as a manga it is has warpped peoples view of the historical Miyamoto Musashi) for me Musashi is the 2nd greatest swordsman behind Sōji Okita for many different reasons
