Phone giveback?

this is prob a silly question but i need to ask because a Verizon representative is telling me i can do it but it doesn’t seem as if they know what they’re talking about.. I have a iPhone 16 plus on my account but it isn't paid off yet. I wanted to get rid of that line completely. Do i have to pay it off to do that or is it a way i can return it to Verizon and end the contract?

⚠️ VERIZON CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE ⚠️

I don’t normally post rants like this, but I have never experienced such utter incompetence and lack of respect from a company in my entire life. As a loyal, long-time Verizon customer with 5 active lines on my account, you would think my business is valued. Apparently not. I have been completely stripped of my primary phone number for the last 4 days because of a massive chain of errors by their own staff.

Here is the unbelievable story of what happens when you try to do something as simple as a standard eSIM transfer with Verizon Wireless:

Day 1: It all started when I tried to transfer my eSIM from my old device to a new one. The agent on the phone clearly didn’t know what they were doing. After over 2 hours of getting nowhere, he literally told me he was going to "trick the system" to make it work by reserving my number. When that failed, he promised he would call me back the next day at 1:00 PM to fix it. He completely lied and never called.

Day 2: I had to call back into the queue. The next agent looked at my account and explained that the first representative had completely messed up and accidentally suspended my phone number while trying to "trick the system." She promised me it would take 24 hours to reactivate, and swore she would call me back the next day at 4:00 PM to ensure it was working. Guess what? Another broken promise. No callback.

Day 3 & 4: I called again today out of pure frustration. Now, a third agent tells me the system is throwing a massive error code because of the suspension, and they have to request a "full investigation" for the second time. When I rightfully demanded to be transferred to a supervisor, the agent flat-out refused, telling me that supervisors "use the same system" and won't be able to help me anyway.

For four straight days, I have been left completely without a working phone number. Did any Verizon agent offer a temporary number or an interim solution while they scrambled to fix their own mistake? No. I actually had to go out of my way to Xfinity Mobile and pay out-of-pocket for a temporary line just to stay connected to the world. To make things worse, because my number is locked up in their system errors, I can’t even port my number out to a different carrier right now!

Here is the kicker: I have recorded the entire conversation with the last three Verizon agents. All three of them are on tape explicitly admitting that the first individual completely mishandled my account and wrongfully suspended my line.

Verizon, you have failed on every single level. Your customer service value and basic respect for loyal consumers is nonexistent.

If this isn't escalated to an executive supervisor and fixed immediately, these call recordings and a formal complaint are heading straight to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Better Bureau Bureau (BBB).

Please share this, especially if you are thinking about switching to Verizon! 🛑 Verizon

Constant 3-5 second internet drops. Affects hardwired PC (direct to Verizon router) and Wi-Fi (TP-Link Decos) simultaneously. Help!

Hey everyone,

I’m dealing with an incredibly frustrating issue and could really use some expert eyes on this.

My home network keeps experiencing random drops where the internet goes completely out for exactly 3 to 5 seconds, and then immediately comes back on its own.

My Setup:

  • ISP: Verizon Fios
  • Desktop PC: Connected directly to the Verizon router via an Ethernet cable.
  • Wi-Fi: A TP-Link Deco mesh system with a node in each floor (4 floors). The Decos are currently configured to run in Access Point (AP) mode, so routing is completely handled by the Verizon router.

The Symptom:
Whenever these random drops happen, BOTH my hardwired desktop PC (ethernet is connected to the verizon router) and all wireless devices on the Deco Wi-Fi drop offline at the exact same millisecond. Because my PC bypasses the Decos entirely and goes straight to the Verizon hardware, this rules out the Deco mesh network as the culprit.

Since it affects the entire house simultaneously but only lasts a few seconds, it feels like a hardware negotiation glitch, an IP conflict, or an issue between the Verizon ONT box and the router.

What I've tried/verified so far:

  • Confirmed the Decos are definitely in Access Point mode.
  • Power-cycled the entire network chain.
  • Disabled the wireless radio/turned off Wi-Fi broadcasting from the verizon website router settings page

Has anyone with a similar Verizon setup experienced these micro-drops? Are there specific settings in the Verizon gateway (like IPv6 bugs or network card checksum offloading conflicts) that I should change?

Any troubleshooting advice would be massively appreciated!

Has anyone had any luck with the Verizon Shine drops last week?

Both my fiance and I scored the Blaze Pizza drop on Wednesday, as well as the $5 Fanatics gift card on Friday. I also scored the drawstring backpack on Thursday.

Prepaid phone lines. Verizon family app not working

We've had prepaid lines for 4+ years. My son has a gizmo watch he's just for 3 years. I was able to use the new Verizon family app after being forced to leave gizmo app. I had to factory reset my phone yesterday because of heating and constant restarting. I downloaded the Verizon family app and now I'm unable to log in. I've been with support now for 80+ minutes. They are claiming because I have a prepaid account and factory reset, im unable to get into the app bc I have a prepaid account.. What kind of absolute bull shit is this? My wife's phone is working fine, same prepaid plan, same Verizon family app and hers works.

Joining Verizon is a headache

I’ve been recently looking to switch service from metro to Verizon just for overall better service and after jumping through hoops both online and in store I finally get my order pushed through over the phone with a rep…nope not exactly well thanks to Verizon’s fraud team they are holding my order after asking me to submit my a form of ID and proof of address. Not only don’t they accept the forms I submitted to them the phone is also on back order that I ordered. This is honestly crazy! They don’t accept voter registration cards or bank statements only (utility bills, vehicle registration, cable bill or a current lease agreement I don’t have any. I’m currently staying with a family member and I didn’t know it would be such a nightmare just wanting to upgrade my phone with Verizon!! You guys should have better ID verification this is just ridiculous

Verizon customer service is trash

I’m so sick and tired of talking to Verizon “customer service” who cannot even put in accurate notes.

I have spent hours of my time speaking to reps over the last 6 months and several broken promises by Verizon to say my account is up to date with payment only to keep receive bills for a service that was cancelled December 18, 2025. I paid off all devices and even paid an extra bill that shouldn’t have happened. The rep I spoke with in Dec 18 said I just needed to pay off the device for $22.94 which I did. Come January 28 I made another payment just to get them off my back although I do not think I should’ve paid anything when they said it was a zero balance. They agreed in the December call that the tablet had not been used so they will waive those usage fees. Thought all was great but I was so wrong! March 2026 I get ANOTHER bill for a service I requested to be cancelled back in December of 2025!!!! So I get on the phone again with customer service - can’t even get into the Verizon account because it’s a cancelled and closed service - only to have to deal with some prick that is not help. Actually he was USELESS, only adding to my frustration and wasting even more of my time. Once again I am told it’s all taken care of. Cool, great. Well April 2026 rolls around and another freaking bill notice and I talk to a gentleman who seemed much more helpful. Gave me a confirmation code for verification of cancelled services and that the account is not delinquent…. Here we are mid-June and I got a credit ding for Verizon.

I paid my due amount for even the month after requested cancellation as they bill a month behind but they continued to charge me for services I was not even getting. To top it off the dimwit that I had the first call with put my cancel request as 2/18/26 and not 12/18/25…. Am I the problem? I think Verizon and their crap customer service is the problem. They lack the ability to problem solve and retain customer satisfaction. Honestly will never do business with Verizon nor would I recommend them to anyone because of this horrible experience. No wonder everyone is switch carriers - expensive and horrible customer service is a bad mix. Now I’d like Verizon to removed their delinquency claim from my credit report and acknowledge they are in the wrong. But also happy to report them to the FCC 😘
