This is meant mostly in jest, don’t get too serious.

So I suck at gun battles usually although I find a rare win here or there. I played shootout yesterday and surprised myself with 6 kills to 2 deaths.

It’s bad enough to get killed during an encounter by anyone but it seems that there are Vigor bullies. They are armed to the teeth and hunt me down relentlessly and without pity. Some will ping me with trackers over and over until they find me. Usually they’ll see me seemingly before I see them and either one shot me or just start coming right after me. Even when I hear them or see them they move constantly and aim perfectly. I often don’t even get off a shot.

Last night at Oen I spawned on that peninsula and immediately made my way to the house. A bully in the house made his way right at me! I found a boulder and got behind it but the bully was constantly moving and shooting. I literally was sprinting to keep that boulder in between us, I was hit a few times but then I heard him reloading so I took a potshot and the bully went down with the luckiest of head shots. I looted him and got a gold plated bugle and virtually every consumable imaginable in multiple amounts. Dude was stocked! My first thought was get to the exit as I got a lot of loot. Then there was some pride as he might be watching and wondering how a 20-some kill guy with a AK-M killed him. So I worked my way up the causeway and I hear someone. Then I’m getting shot by what seems like 2 people. Bullies? Not sure but they’re pressing. So I take off further down the causeway and get cover. Hopefully he didn’t see me or won’t pursue. Of course he does and I’m head shotted soon. Oh well, at least I got one of them.

I’m really bad. Played three encounters last night.

First one I was moving along pretty well, grabbed the unexploded missile and some other things. Decided to make a run at the airdrop. Grabbed it and I thought I did the puzzle on time but it exploded and I was near death. Before I could heal, some guy starts shooting at me from behind so I run. He hits me and I’m dead, but I watched him and he looks like he’d never played the game before. He actually had four kills and was listed as threat, but didn’t exit the map and died to the radiation. Looks like he was lost.

Second one I moved towards a building I could hear somebody moving inside. I waited by a window and shot at him with a shotgun but completely missed so I took off and he followed me. Of course we had a little shootout. I got injured. I kept running and he tracked me down to another building where I had the drop on him but again I completely missed and he killed me with the pistol. It was embarrassing.

Third one I was in another building and I hear somebody coming in. I had a machine gun and I shot him up really good. He exited the room, but then came back in at me and I finished him. Then I went to search him and realized he had no weapon or any equipment whatsoever. I killed an unarmed man, barely.

But I still had a lot of fun so that that’s the point right?

How are Que times and population? How is the cheating? Are you having fun and do you recommend I return?

I opened Vigor yesterday (Tue) and was greeted with a screen that said Double XP was Wednesday through Saturday. Woo-hoo! Can't believe it. I leave for vacation Sunday morning and just knew they were going to do it over my vacation and I'd miss it. So I completed the seasonal challenges I've been saving in preparation to redeem them today and get double XP on all those challenges.

Get up this morning and opened Vigor before heading to work and I'm greeted with no splash screens, and my daily login is the standard 300 XP and not 600 XP. Sure enough, no double XP indicator on the map page.

I check FaceBook and the Vigor account posted 2 hours prior that double XP is June 26 through June 29, so now Friday through Monday. Uh, wut. I guess either someone forgot to actually start it when they were supposed to, or they were looking at the wrong calendar, or some other type of incompetence.

Ever since a certain game came out I just can’t seem to stay in the outlands for very long anymore. Maybe it’s one shootout or a few encounters and that’s it. Back in the day I could spend hours on vigor without even thinking about it. Now I just can’t do it anymore. I know it definitely has something to do with playing for years, growing as a person, and changing over time. I’ve met some of my closest online friends through this game and I’ll always be grateful for that. But lately there’s this feeling that I’ve experienced everything vigor has to offer. After all this time I think I might have lost my passion for it. I still enjoy the gameplay but I’m kinda jaded at this point and honestly that makes me a little sad. I’ve probably experienced more of this game than most players ever will. I was so invested that I bought an xbox and a ps5 just to keep playing vigor with my friends. For years this game consumed a huge part of my gaming life. Now I find myself quickly moving on to something else without even thinking about it. Maybe that’s just what happens sometimes. Sigh…
