Getting a connect to a 300-baud BBS on the SX-64 over the internet via a DIY null-modem cable - how hard could it be?

From someone who set out with his 40-year-old SX-64 to visit an equally ancient Commodore 64 BBS - not old-school with a modem, but through a DIY null-modem cable hooked up over the internet.

It turned out to be much more difficult than expected, with all sorts of cable shenanigans that of course refused to work - and ultimately even resulted in the SX‑64 needing repairs.

Sony tape backup?

I need to find out what’s on this drive. Are there any machines that are compatible with current computers? Or is there a service I can contact to view it?

I bought a Liberty SN-500 Radio/Cassette player/TV. How do I make it work?

I bought this thing at a garage sale for 10$ and have no idea how it works. I plugged my phone into the aux and that didn't do anything. When I turn it on it makes a sound but doesnt play any music and the TV doesnt do anything either. I dont have any cassette tapes so I can't test that. Can anybody help? (the image is of the Liberty SN-500; however its just a picture of one, not the one I own)

So my friend gave me this

It's a nova mobility systems model NMS-5000 it seems to work perfectly fine I'm wondering if there's some kind of Linux distro I could get running on this to make it at least somewhat usable
