Moving to Wageningen, what am I forgetting ?

Hey all !

I am a EU citizen, starting MSc at WUR this September.
I’ve got housing search underway but I also genuinely don’t know what I don’t know here.

I know that bc I am an EU citizen, I get to skip the visa/residence permit process

So Im trying to get my head around the BRP/BSN/DigiD chain and also just banking, health insurance etc.

So if you ever have any advices, tips, or just know anything related to bellow and or if it looks like I’m forgetting something feel free to write :)

- I’m still sorting housing and is basically betting on the new student priority on ROOM, so am I delulu ? Knowing I registered a month ago ish ?
- do I absolutely need a bank account, or can I bet on international banks ? Knowing we all use EU.
- if bank account is absolutely needed: was it fast or a pain to get ?
- as for health insurance : do I need it sorted before arrival ? And how did you pick your insurer ? Is there health insurance exceptions ??
- as for bike, can I survive the first week without it ?
- is there bikes you can rent for a journey only ?

- anything with WUR specifically ? : housing / admission that’s different from a “normal” move to NL ?

- or just anything you wish someone had told you before your first month ? :,)

Not trying to make anyone write me an essay, even a “don’t forget x” comments would help a too. Thanks in advance :D

Where to watch Canada-Morocco game?

Is there any particular bar in Wageningen where we might find other Canada supporters watching the WK game Saturday night?

Scammers on Idealis?

Hi, I’m moving to the Netherlands (Wageningen) for a master, and I know the housing situation is hell because everybody everywhere warned me. I found a house via Facebook marketplace, had a video call with the current tenants and got an offer.

It is a house managed by Idealis, and at this point I already got through the steps of uploading my documents on the official Idealis app and then being accepted.
I got a mail by Idealis saying that now I have to pay the first month of rent and THEN I get to see the contract and sign it. And I have 48 hours to do so.

I’m posting this just because I’m really not used to this system and so afraid of scammers. In my home country usually when you rent a room you get to somehow meet the landlord, even via call, and you definitely see and sigh the contract before you pay anything.
Is this rush normal? Do anybody have similar experiences with Idealis and can tell me if I should be worried?
I think it’s legit because it is also advertised by the University website, but still I’m very confused.

Thank you so much for any help!

Emergency study tips for CCVX / Boswell-Beta

I am an international student and I desperately want to study at Wageningen University (WUR) next academic year. However, I have a deficiency in Mathematics and Physics, which I need to clear via CCVX or Boswell-Beta.

I am honestly stressing out right now. I only have less than a month to prepare if I want to take the upcoming CCVX exams, and the Boswell-Beta exams are in August (which still doesn’t feel like enough time). As a Belgian, the Dutch high school curriculum (VWO) and the way exams are structured (especially Physics) feel a bit foreign and a little different from what I learned in Belgium.

I read on Reddit that CCVX is generally preferred by self-studying students because they have a lot of past exams available, so I think I want to try CCVX. But I have no structure right now and don't know where to start.

  1. What are the best books, websites, or methods to self-study VWO Math and Physics in a short timeframe? Are there specific Dutch books that I can buy (especially for physics) that explain everything pretty well
  2. Does anyone know if Wageningen University accepts OMPT-A for mathematics? I feel like I could pass that way easier and it would take away a lot of stress. It was not listed on their site, but a lot of university's in the Netherlands do accept it :(

Any advice on how to create a structured study plan for this final sprint would be life-saving. Thanks in advance!

(P.S. Since I'm from Belgium, I know how to speak Dutch so the language is not a problem!)
