Started collecting this year — slowly figuring out what my 6-watch collection looks like

I started collecting watches seriously this past April and have learned a lot about what I actually like versus what simply catches my attention.

The goal now is to eventually narrow everything down to a 6-watch collection that feels intentional.

Still on my list:

Cartier Tank — classic dress watch. Plus when I tried it on I loved it.

Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante — understated, super interesting and probably my next major piece.

A proper diver — something robust for the pool, beach, travel and anything where I don’t want to think about the watch on my wrist. Figured when I try the right one on, I’ll know.

Lange 1 Pink Gold Moon Phase — the grail and hopefully the final piece someday.

I’m enjoying figuring out my taste but curious what you guys would keep, sell or add based on where the collection is now?

**Rolex Explorer is a 39mm Mark II (only watch that’s untouchable)

[SOTC] Adding a diver to collection - Black or Navy Vaer?

I am looking to add a diver watch to my collection. I've ordered 2 Vaers: a DS2 Navy and a DS4 Solar Black. Both 42mm

Which one would you keep? I already have a blue/gold Marlin GMT, but blue is also a predominant color in my wardrobe

Let me know what you think!

Rate my watch collection.

I just got into watches starting around August of 2025. I wanted to see how the watch community would react to my collection and their opinions on it (good & bad). I started fast and seems like I can’t stop! 😅 Damn I’m loving this hobby! All commentary is welcomed even the rough stuff!

[Citizen] 1952 Triple Calendar Ref. 1505 — much prettier in person than I expected

I recently picked up this early Citizen Triple Calendar and was honestly surprised by how beautiful it is in person.

This is the Ref. 1505 from 1952, generally regarded as Japan’s first triple-calendar wristwatch. At only around 33mm, Citizen managed to fit the day, month and pointer date into what is still a very elegant little dress watch.

What really got me, though, is the dial. The aged ivory surface, gold applied numerals, blue date track, framed calendar windows and that tiny seconds subdial somehow all work together without feeling overly busy. There’s a lot going on, but it still looks remarkably balanced.

It’s also a nice reminder that Citizen was already experimenting with fairly complicated mechanical watches in the early 1950s, long before the Japanese watch industry became the force we normally associate with the 1960s and 70s.

Definitely one of those watches that I bought because I found it historically interesting, but ended up liking much more simply because of how it looks.

Thinking of picking up a fun weekend piece - thoughts?

What’s your preference on these? Leaning towards the old Mk40 given its smaller profile vs the others, favourite dial is the pilot. Skywalker is odd one but kinda like it

My everyday watch. Breitling Colt Oceane Black Dial

When I’m not heading somewhere nice or have an event on, you’ll usually find me wearing my Breitling Colt Oceane with the black dial.

It’s become my everyday watch because I simply don’t have to think about it. It’s understated, comfortable and sporty enough to wear casually, while still feeling like a proper watch on the wrist.

I’ve got other watches I’ll reach for when I’m dressing up but there’s something I really like about having one watch that becomes your default. The one you throw on without thinking and end up wearing more than anything else.

The Colt doesn’t seem to get anywhere near the attention that some other Breitling models do either, which is part of the appeal for me.

What’s everyone else’s everyday watch?

personal collection update

Just wanted to share the latest update to my collection! Really happy with the new additions and with how the collection is coming together.

I took a lot of the advice you guys gave me on my last post when deciding what pieces to add next, so thank you for all the recommendations!

Would love to hear what you think of the collection in its current state, and where you think I should go from here.

Thanks again — this is such a great community!

Best 2 Watch Collection

You can't go wrong with having just these 2 watches in your collection. This will be your base and your foundation will be strong.

  1. Casio Royale AE 1200 stainless steel watch modded with a leather strap.

  2. Seiko 5 sports with a black leather butterfly clasp.

My Solid Six. These six watches are on my wrist at least once every week. Others get worn, but not nearly as much as these.

I'm looking to start a small watch collection.

Looking to keep all in the $500 or so range, maybe a little more or less. I screenshotted 3 in this listing that I'd like to purchase. Perhaps an all black one as well. Good, bad? Any you'd recommend to swap out? Your guidance is appreciated!

Unintentional pairings and themes??

SOTC of 1 year of getting into watches…

Bought what I liked without any thought of what it meant in regards to a collection lol.

Finally got a watch box and noticed that I ended up with an unintentional theme of all integrated bracelets and 2 of each (chronographs, Casio and Tsuyosas).

Anyone else seem to buy just one type of watch?

————————————/

Last addition I’m aiming for is a dress watch.. . Maybe a Mune or Bambino?

I also have a Garmin Fenix 6 pro, not pictured.
