This duck is a long way from home!

This duck is a long way from home!

Seek tells me this is a black-bellied whistling duck! Their usual range tops out in Texas, but i found this one at the pond across from Westerville North.

In need of dental treatment?

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfudvWlfaJHhWhonR2m5td36nzrJgl3vUbDgbyGjQxGQlIDDg/viewform?usp=dialog

Call/Text- (614) 407-6484

I have read through a lot of the OSU dental posts, and am still seeing lots of commenters wanting to establish care at OSU, but faced with months of waiting for a new patient slot. Reaching out directly to myself or my classmates, we can fit you in directly on a much quicker timeline.

OSU’s dental school offers dental care at 40-50% of the Columbus average, and accepts Medicaid and private insurances such as Delta dental, including OSU employee/student insurance. Appointments do run longer (usually about 3 hours), so having some games on the phone/a good book while professors check our work is a great idea. A lot of my patients love having a dentist that they can text/call whenever for any questions/concerns/issues!

An update + a thank you to r/Westerville 🙏

I just wanted to say I really appreciate everyone on this subreddit who took the time to comment on my last post.

The biggest things I heard were:

🥘 Lunch buffet

🍸 A legit happy hour

🥟 Chaat and street food

🥞 Dosas

🍛 Good biryani

🌶️ Spice with flavor, not just heat

For those who asked, the restaurant will be called Bombay House Restaurant & Bar and we’ll be at 496 Polaris Parkway.

More than anything, I genuinely want to build a place that serves great food, treats people well, and becomes somewhere you’ll want to come back to. The feedback has been incredibly helpful, and I’ve been taking notes.

Thank you again, Westerville. Looking forward to serving you all soon. 🙏

Opening a modern Indian restaurant in Westerville this summer, want locals' honest input

Hello! I'm opening a modern Indian spot with a real cocktail program here in Westerville (Polaris area) this summer, and I'd rather hear from actual Westerville people than guess.

What do you wish we had more of around here food-wise? Any dish nobody local nails that you'd love to finally find nearby? And honestly, what would make you want to come back to a new place more than once?

I'd genuinely love your input as we finalize things. Please follow us on Instagram to keep up and see our grand opening date when we reveal it: https://www.instagram.com/bombayhouseusa/

Thanks, looking forward to feeding some of you soon! 😄

Need to find a lactating doe asap

There is a fawn who’s mom was killed on Maxtown Road Friday (we think). He’s very hungry, dehydrated, and crying for his mom. We’re taking him to the Wildlife Animal Hospital now. According to Ohio law, they cannot keep him, but they can rehydrate him and patch up the scrape on his cheek (probably from when his mom was hit. They told me that they are permitted to introduce him to a lactating doe, since they’ve had some success with that, particularly if the doe has only one fawn. However, his time is ticking. He has 72 hours from the time he is admitted for this to be accomplished before they have to put him down. It’s now 1:20.

If you know of a lactating fawn in your area, please call them at (614) 407-7830. Be sure to tell them this is about a fawn who was admitted this afternoon. If it’s private property, they will need the name, address, and phone number of the property owner for permission.

I know white tail deer can be a nuisance, but I just couldn’t let this infant die slowly and painfully.

I also know this is a long shot, but if you can help, and are willing, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks

Delaware Rising F.C. Youth Soccer Camp - 6/10/26-6/12-26

Hello everyone!

We are Delaware Rising F.C., the local (men's and women's) semi-professional soccer club that plays at Buckeye Valley HS. We are holding a youth camp next week at Smith Park. If you know of any youth players who would like to elevate their game, please consider us. Our players are all at the college level (or on their way to college) and can demonstrate the skills local players need to take the next step. Our coaches are licensed and highly experienced, Joshua Diehl of Olentangy Berlin & Landon Kuhn, who just finished their playing career at OWU.

Interested players and their families can register through our website, delawarerising.club.

We are excited to see everyone out there and grow the beautiful game locally as the country enjoys the World Cup.

Let me know if ya'll have any questions and check our social media.

UP THE RISING!

Please consider speaking at tomorrow’s City Council Meeting on 64 E Walnut St Plan

I know many people came to the last meeting that did not get to speak. Even if you think your points are redundant it would be good to get new faces in front of the council members tomorrow at the Justice Center at 7pm. So far, despite the outcry from the public the plan is only to postpone.
Even if you are pro-progress and pro-development for the city (as most of us are) it is clear that a bad process got us to this point. It is in all Westerville residents’ best interest to maximize the benefits from the sale of this critical asset through a proper and transparent RFP process.
I don’t mean to set off an argument about the best use for the lot but just to remind everyone that the city should be working for us to bring the most good and monetary benefit through the sale of 64 E Walnut St. and they have not done that yet.
The property is not on the official agenda for the meeting tomorrow but it would be good for City Council to know that we the residents have not changed our expectations with the postponement.
Please consider speaking at tomorrow’s meeting.

“The ground of liberty is to be gained by inches.” Thomas Jefferson

The ground of Liberty is to be gained by inches.”
Thomas Jefferson

We can’t get so discouraged or complacent that we give up. We must keep working toward the goal of restoring our country to sanity, integrity, justice, and hope for the people of this nation. That means we all need to be actively involved in helping people with those essential values and courage to stand up for what is right to be elected this coming November, even if it’s just in small ways. Each and every effort counts.
