2 years of having the same doormat, gone, like tears in the rain

Second annoyance: My security camera decided it wasn’t necessary to record him actually walking-up.

My 13yo baked cookies to order and one of the parents returned the cookies

My daughter got home from school and told me she wanted to make cookies and a chocolate truffle like dessert ("brigadeiro") that her friends had pre-ordered.

She wanted money to buy a more expensive birthday gift for a close friend, more expensive than our regular budget.
She offered the options of people buying 5,10,15 or 20 cookies, with 20 being cheaper per cookie than 15 and so on.

She spent 2.5-3h preparing everything from scratch and delivering them.

One friend ordered 20 cookies for $15 CAD. Like other friends, they said they would pay her later.

At 8:30pm the mom of said friend came by and returned the cookies directly to my daughter. She said her kid is very agreeable and didn't have money to pay. She gave her $2 because one cookie had been eaten.

My daughter was visible frustrated after putting all that effort.

We bought the cookies from her.

Edit: okay, trying to read through the flood of comments.

This is not a low income family. Both parents work and make 6 digit salaries. We live in an upper middle class neighbourhood. They own their house and have a cottage. Could they've drowning in debt? For sure, I don't know their financials.

At 13, a lot of kids have allowances. A lot of her friends have bank accounts and cards. Is it the best use of one's allowance? Probably not. It doesn't sound outrageous that most of her friends would have some money (allowance or pocket money) to buy it.

But definitely was a lesson learned!

My absentee ballot arrived a day late

I requested it almost a month ago, and it was mailed out with time to spare, but somehow my small town's post office was large enough for it to get lost in for 2 weeks.

At least this morning's results aren't disappointing for me, but as a person with disabilities who can't get out to vote, this does bother me.

Edit: I've been emailing everyone I cam think of about this, hopefully I'll get some replies soon.

Messaged my estranged mother that I had a a baby and this was her reply.

It's only mildly infuriating because she's a narcissist but I was still a little surprised she used it as a way to introduce her new boyfriend.

Edit Thanks to everyone for their support! It surprised how many people have dealt with similar experiences and I hope you all find some level of closure and happiness in your lives whether or not you choose to go non contact.

For those confused by my mom's reply: she's basically 'one upping' my message about having a baby. Shes saying she too has had one (her boyfriend). My husband is tall so the 6'4 is a "look what I can get" kind of hint. Shes also telling me not to tell my siblings and ruin her peace even though none of my siblings have spoken to her in years 😅

This hair conditioner retails at £40 PER BOTTLE and it's made of completely hard plastic, meaning that there's no way you can use the full bottle without wasting loads

Thankfully I'm not an idiot and didn't actually purchase this, it was a gift, but the bottle is completely hard inflexible plastic and the shape means that I'm guessing at minimum a third is going to get wasted unless I water it down into oblivion (it's a VERY thick conditioner, too). £40 and you waste a third of it.
