What am I doing wrong?

I've been practicing installing my own wigs for years now and no matter what, I can't seem to blend the hairline. After applying the adhesive and the melt band, its always messy and cakey looking. Getting to adhere to my hairline is easy but as soon as I remove the band, the baby hairs are going in different directions, stuck to the glue even though I comb it back before putting on the band. I put on makeup that matches my tone but it just looks bad. Any tips? Yes its a cheap wig. I'm not spending a car payment on hair. It still shouldn't be this difficult to blend though right.

Need help finding a bombshell curly bday wig🫪

Heyyy beautiful people🥰

My bday is coming up at the end of the month and I really need to find a high quality human hair wig that gives off a 90s curly bombshell look. I want to be able to rewear this wig in the future so I don’t mind investing in over $250 for a 24 yaki straight (or any bouncy curl) unit. I also want to be able to maintain the curls + lace on my own after the install but I can afford to go somewhere else for someone to install and style it for me (just need to find someone good in NJ/NY…).

The goal is minimal to no leave out since the front of my hair is about 4-6 inches and I’m scared of it reverting back to 4c with this summer heat but i know the same risk goes for wearing a lace front in the summer😵‍💫

I’ve seen adds for mega look, Curly me (one of the pics is from there), and ISEE hair but I wanted to head from you all if they’re actually good…

Thank youuu💋

Need helping melting the lace!

I watch videos, practice, follow the steps but it feels like my lace always sits on the glue instead of melting in. I’ve waited till it dried, waited till tacky, did it wet. I’ve tried different glues. I press it in, put the band on for an hour and all.

The first is when I got it installed, the second is my re-install. Tips?

Human hair wig uk

Heyy, I’m looking for advice on where I can get a good quality full lace human hair wig in the uk that will do quick delivery (arrive in about a week). I don’t want too high a density as I want it to look natural and I didn’t have thick hair before I lost my hair. Im after an approx 24inch light brown wig that will look natural on me, isn’t wiggy, and as best as possible looks like it is growing out my head. Looking for something around a grand. Any help would be appreciated and I can give more details if needed x

To Glue or not to Glue: Wired Ear Tabs

Hi! I have alopecia, and don't really have hair along my sideburn area. I have worn wigs with normal ear tabs (fabric, silicon, etc), but I was interested in getting the lace ones that just have wire in them because I hope it'll give me more customization for my sideburn area so I can do half up half downs more realistically.

My question is, are you able to wear these without glueing them down (if you are leaving your hair down)? And if you glue them down, do they still look realistic/flat to your head? I've attached pictures of what I am talking about for reference, any help will be appreciated!

Not sure if I should just stick to normal ones and accept defeat in favor of the low-maintenance lifestyle lol. Possibly considering BLB or Hairalicious. Thanks!

Cancer wig scam

i was diagnosed with cancer and am going to lose my hair. i did three wig appointments. i got a nice real hair wig for $50 a EXTEMEMLY nice wig for $1425

i went to place the cancer center recommends it was a $200 consult which is fine the $1425 wig also needed the $200 consult fee. i was happy to pay for ppls time and expertise.

he slaps a HORRIBLE synthetic piece of crap on my me . if i didn’t already have two wigs in the car it would have been DEVISTATING to have this worse quality than american girl doll hair on. and it’s $700. i ask for the real human hair wigs not this piece of crap. he says those are $2000 but wig prices are like the stock market they fluctuate daily. im okay with that price and try on wigs. they suck. no highlights or dimension. i decide to leave. i pay the $200 for the consult. the next day he calls and asks if i want the wig but the price has gone up to $3500. from $2000 to $3500 in a day bc human hair prices change daily. and this is the place the cancer hospital prints out and tells you to go.

i can’t express the difference in quality too that the $1400 wig is so much better.

he’s usually con artist scam techniques on cancer patients. isnt this like increasing water bottle prices before a hurricane

How to make wig's hair look like it's coming from scalp

Hi everyone,

I'm 20M and unfortunately started dealing with frontal hair loss at a young age. After saving up for quite a while, I finally bought a human hair French lace wig. It was a big purchase for me, so I'm trying to take the best possible care of it.

I've spent a lot of time learning how to install it, and I'm finally ok with how it looks. The only issue is that the knots are still visible, so I'd like to bleach them myself.

After doing some research, I ordered bleach powder that came with a 30-volume developer, and I also bought a 20-volume developer because I wasn't sure which would be safer.

I have a couple of small lace offcuts that I can practice on before touching the actual wig.

My goals are to:

Make the front hairline look more natural.

Keep the wig in good condition for as long as possible.

For those of you with experience bleaching French lace wigs:

Would you recommend 20 or 30 volume developer?

How thick should the bleach mixture be?

Approximately how long would you leave it on?

Any tips to prevent the bleach from bleeding through the lace and lightening the hair roots?

I'd really appreciate any advice or frist time mistakes to avoid. Thanks!

extreme wig matting during/after wash

Hi everyone, i’ve been experimenting with wigs for the past year. i have tried several different wigs: lemoda, megalook, wingirl, pizzaz. every single one has became completely ruined either during or after washing. i have watched countless videos, done so much googling, everything you can think of. i took a previous matted wig to a stylist who told me it was beyond repair. i brought 2 other wigs with me that needed washing, and she had me wash them while she supervised. i left her salon feeling so empowered and excited that I will finally never have this problem. i got home and put some serum on them like she suggested and set them out to dry. when i went to pick the deep wave one up i noticed tangling that was not there when leaving salon. i thought id be able to get it out, but it just got worse. this is my 4th wig that has become unusable after washing. i have no idea what im doing wrong and its honestly making me want to give up wigs altogether, which sucks because im making so much progress when it comes to installing. does anyone have any advice or know what i could be doing wrong? and do you think this wig is beyond saving? I feel so discouraged

Can consistent wig wear cause hair loss?

After I've experimented to wear my wig for a three day event (10-12 hours), it's been making me want to wear it to school for the next school year. My wig is glueless, has an adjustable hook strap, and for those three days—I've never experienced a headache and big relief after taking it off!

It feels like I'm wearing a hat lol.

But then I saw some comments on tiktok that wigs can cause hair loss for long periods of time, and I wanted to know if people experienced that with glueless wigs.

Pink diamond wig helmet help

Okay so this is my first cosplay ever, and I know this is gonna be tough and is gonna cost me a couple wigs to achieve but I really need some pointers on like on specific techniques and supplies I need to achieve this specific helmet look for Pink diamond.
I am really inspired by the way this person made this helmet wig https://youtube.com/shorts/P2RUP6Z2Q0c?is=m8LYPkoW4hhW7pPx
But they aren’t very in depth about how they build it they just show the stages and my biggest questions are, how do you wrap the hair around the plastic structure neatly and how do you keep it in place ? And for the rose peddled back I have a similar question on how I’m supposed to wrap the hair around the structure and hold it in place is my biggest question. I’d appreciate if anyone has any idea of what my steps I should take are but I know that’s a lot to ask for a cosplay you haven’t built yourself , any pointers for step by step would be greatly appreciated!!
They said they made the base with cotton batting, wire and clear selotape. Any extra supply recommendations are heavily appreciated!!
Edit:

I already said this before and there’s already people advising me not to pursue this as a first project and I know and understand the concerns about be getting frustrated and this being a big project for me. There is no other cosplay I am willing to spend my money on so my only other option would be for another kind of wig, if any recommendations on what other kind of wig I can do for this cosplay I’d heavily appreciate it then just telling me I can’t and should practice with something else first doesn’t really help me.

Itchy scratchy wig fibers on my neck

Does anyone have a solution to the synthetic fibers really irritating my neck. I have a couple Gabor, a Raquel Welch, and many inexpensive ones. All of them irritate my neck after having it on for a bit. I’m kinda new so none have been washed yet. Maybe that will help? Maybe Silicone Spray? I’d hoped to be able to wear them all day. Has anyone found a way to help this?
