I recently got myself an old laptop that operates on windows 7, but there is one problem- the browser i normally use on my other devices doesn't support it.

I don't need much, just something to open ellipsus on and maybe look up something while I'm writing.

It would be nice if it wasn't too bloated with AI and more privacy focused.

Anyone has any recommendations?

Hi, i've recently downgraded from 10 to 7 with a pt-BR .iso of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 that i got from Internet Archive. I've wiped the drive, installed it through a pendrive, and updated it with Legacy Update. Today i've been trying to get Office 2010 installed and no matter what i do, it keeps throwing the same 1719 error at me, saying it couldn't access the Windows Installer service.

I've tried everything. Office 2013, 2007, no luck, same error. Unregistered and registered the installer service. Nothing. Tried numerous fixes i've encountered throughout the internet, including this one, which, by the way, i don't even have the updates KB3072630 and KB3139923 they say i should have. I also cannot install them through standalone .msu files, since Windows just tells me they're not applicable to my system. Changing the msiserver ImagePath to aim at the SysWOW64 version of msiexec.exe didn't help either, as it just doesn't even start.

I would absolutely appreciate any help or suggestions.

Is there such a thing where I can just run it and it will changes the view, which details are checked and the width of those details.

So for example what I want to do is have one folder be changed to have the following. Detail View, In Details - Name - Size - Length - Creators

If possible also sort by creators as well but that isn't a deal breaker.

Title. Its a very basic HP Pavillion but when I booted it up recently for the first tike in years it doesnt seem to even be able to do basic tasks very well at all, like browsing files or opening programs. It has 4 GB RAM, 750 GB hard drive, 100 GB used. I remember it used to be able to go crazy on Halo custom edition, (at 640x480 of course...) AOE2, GBA emulators, Minecraft, and TES3 MP. It for some reason had a log file that was 400GB but I deleted that, Disc Cleanup didnt do it so I had to do it manually. I know this computer was always and will always be slow but what can I do to make it more functional? Im thinking throw more RAM in it and do a clean Windows 7 install. Idk what the other components do, I just know that more memory = more resources to do stuff = faster

I’ll give a little background info before diving into the problem: Randomly got the itch to try to burn CDs again but it won’t work. I haven’t used this laptop in years but it’s working fine. I used to burn CDs on iTunes but when I was last using this laptop regularly iTunes had stopped working and I never was able to fix it (still can’t). So I only have Windows Media Player, and I can’t download something different since I can’t access the internet because I don’t have any web browsers on here that are still supported lol.

Also, yes the disc drive can burn CDs, I bought CD-Rs, and the settings are set to Audio CD not Data CD.

Okay so on Windows Media Player the “Start burn” button is grayed out and below that it says “Connect a burner and restart the player”. When I tried the only 2 fixes I could find for this, on both of them there ended up being a step where I was supposed to click on something and it wasn’t there. The first one was to enable to IMAPI CD burning services: services > IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service - that was nowhere on the list. The second one was reinstalling the CD/DVD drive: it said go to device manager and then click on “DVD/CD-ROM drives but that wasn’t on there.

I’m not the best at this stuff so I could just be missing something idk, but does anyone know how I can make this work with these circumstances?

I have an approx 8 year old HP zbook laptop which is decent spec running i7 and Windows 7 Professional. I want to completely wipe it so it can be sold but it seems there isn’t a simple way of doing this as with newer versions of Windows. Could I just delete all documents and uninstall all programs? I mainly just want to remove any personal information and potentially speed it up if anyone buying it wants to use it rather then use for parts.
