I'm going to purchase my first paid plan and I'm wondering what is the best plan for $20.
I tried the trial of Windsurf and I was able to enjoy the promo of Kimi 2.6, however I'm worried that once that promo ends, I won't be able to use it because of the daily and weekly quota.
Cursor has no free trial so I was not able to test how it does on their pro plan

If you make Kimi2.6 (the only usable "free-tier" model) unusable by throttling....maybe just tell the user the model is overloaded and to try again later. This is better than being in the middle of a workflow and have it unresponsive or "model unreachable."
Once I use my paid quota on bigger items, I then fallback on these lighter models. Recently, though, it has become impossible to use reliably. Absolutely frustrating. Kick these free users off or have them use SWE-1.5. We need to see some consistency here.
I refuse to top up my quota with additional usage because I feel like I'm part of some ridiculous guinea pig experiment called "force them to pay." Guess what? I do pay...but out of principle, I refuse to pay more.

Has anyone solved this error? This occurs when using any model, in new chats and old chats, after signing back out and signing in etc after the new update. I am on Max plan

Recently, there was some rage against the Windsurf, and I completely understand it. I also love good things cheap and hate them expensive.
However, I also want to give some bold words of appreciation to this code editor. I use it for my personal activities, and I have Cursor at work. In Windsurf, I have the majority of AIs available the next day after I read the news about them. In Cursor, there are definitely ChatGPTs and Claudes, but the number of alternatives is very limited. You can get Kimi 2.5 there and maybe Gemini 3.1-Pro, but that's it.
These days, I also see regular odes to Claude, and that all you need in life is Claude Code. I absolutely disagree with this recommendation. Having many LLMs available gives you protection from the risk of one of them degrading and providing poor results. Yet, Claude is also quite arrogant! It can recommend you go to sleep instead of doing the task, ignore your instructions, and more. With this image of a supreme model built by humanity, I have some demands that it doesn't meet.
After daily plans were introduced, I certainly had to shorten my usage of famous models, but I can't say that I feel helpless. I use these ones, and they do a great job while being relatively cheap or even free:

I am a paid user and I have been trying to use Kimi 2.6 after my weekly limit has been reached and it barely will not respond to a single thing
also for some reason I had 70% of my weekly limit free and it was all consumed in a single prompt to claude opus 4.7 medium
Hi, I know there have been some changes for free accounts, and for paid accounts, more specifically for the PRO version. What's the list of available AI models? Are there any models with unlimited use? If they are available with unlimited use, is it because there's a limited-time promotion on these models, or because Windsurf is offering the model forever for free until they change their mind?
I've been extremely disappointed with the new usage limits in daily and weekly. I've moved to cursor, but keep the windsurf subscription because I got 10$/month pricing as an early adopter.
And I have to say that working with deepseek V4 is actually fine. You can actually work with it if you're using planning mode. You get about 10 significant changes to the tune of 2500 lines of code in a day. That's totally okay. And the quality of the code is competitive as well.
Maybe this helps someone who's reaching their limit way too quickly.
All of this crap is so pathetic. It was already sad in the past few weeks, but this "Permission denied: Reached overall message rate limit." is the saddest of them all.
Mind you: I've been paying for my Pro subscription for months!!!! I have 20% left in my weekly quota!!! Get your sh*t together, f*cking amateurs!

When others complained about the new quota policy, I was skeptical. Now that I’m running into it myself, I get the frustration.
My daily usage is at a mere 11%, yet I’m locked out for hitting 100% of my weekly limit. How does that math make sense?
If a fraction of a daily limit triggers a weekly shutdown, the metrics are incredibly misleading.
Am I missing something here, or is this just the frustrating new reality?
Why does windsurf website say $10 per month for edu but stripe says $20 per month? Is there a way to fix this, since I am not trusting the fact that it will charge only $10. Please help me fix this.
WIndsurf had some of the best free local AI models for being a popular VSCode fork but now they have completely stripped the free tag off all selectable models.

Hey Windsurf Team, It was great seven months’ experience with you guys, until you introduced those crazy usage limits and now shutting down the free SWE 1.5, which was the only reason for keeping Windsurf installed on my laptop. So now it’s time to say officially goodbye and uninstall Windsurf until you guys come back with great competitive pricing and usage limits, which will insist me to install you back. So far, since the last two months, I have switched to ChatGPT Codex, and believe me, I am not regretting it; it’s purely a value for money.
