Canadian Flags Winnipeg
There was once Canadian flags on every block. Now there are few to be seen.
Just a little sharesy
We had our open house tonight and thank you to everyone who came out to show their support.
Fun fact: Manitoba is home to the first crematorium in CANADA built by a woman. By me! I started Alterna Cremation in 2019.
People usually think of funeral service as a very traditional, stuffy industry, and in a lot ways it is. But businesses can evolve. And baby we lead the charge. Families deserve transparency, affordability, and care that feels human, even when dealing with death.
This dang project took years of planning, setbacks, permits, financing, construction headaches, and a whole lot of persistence.
We finally had our open house tonight. Seeing it finally operational has been surreal.
Also yes, the tiny supervisors in the photo insisted on attending the site visit barefoot.
Winnipeg, thanks for supporting local independent businesses, even the unusual ones.
And especially the unusual founders 👀

Sourpuss Substitute
When American booze first disappeared from LC shelves, there was a thread on the main Winnipeg sub about possible replacements. I spotted these tonight and figured I’d share here (since I apparently got shadow banned from the other sub for some reason). No idea what they taste like, but the second I saw that bright red bottle I got instant heartburn, so I’m guessing it’s a pretty close match.
Used Vehicles
Hey I'm in a slight pickle... I'm starting to look for a newer vehicle... my 20 year old rocket is starting to get pretty rusty and i don't want to have to have a major repair to it...
News to me, the used car market is psychotic. I've tried to get 5 different ones lined up to see and they're gone before you even get a chance. Oddly enough I'm noticing some patterns between the names of the private sellers which to me is kind of suspicious, but I digress on that remark.
My question... I've now accepted that I will have to go $10k+, in which case, who's had "good" experiences wit dealerships (used or the name brand ones)? I'm not sure how comfortable I am handing over a bank draft to some skeezy guy on marketplace vs an actual business.
Young Winnipeggers say they're trying their best, but job hunting still a struggle
cbc.caStolen Bike
This weekend, our garage was broken into and the thieves took off with my husband’s bike.
On this bike was a custom leather Brooks seat given to him by coworkers after his father passed away. It’s embossed with the initials G.K. in honour of his dad.
It also had a bike bag containing most of his favourite discs, as he had just gone to play disc golf the day before.
They also took the cargo trailer we used to cycle for groceries, and that he used to cycle his camping gear up to Folk Fest! (Along with my steel toed shoes, leaf blower, battery + charger)
I can’t think of anyone less deserving of this fate, and I’m not just saying that because I’m biased. (But of course, no one deserves to have their stuff stolen)
My husband is deeply invested in the betterment of our community. He regularly volunteers his time, labour and expertise to various community organizations and he always shows up to help his friends.
He loves cycling and started a cycling group with his coworkers, aiming to help them safely cycle to and from work, showing them the best routes to take, and then hitting up local watering holes with the gang.
He’s so torn up about losing a bike he’s put 100s if not 1000s of kilometres on over the years. He’s a very sentimental man, which is part of why I love him so much!!
These thieves didn’t just take an item of monetary value, they took a part of an incredibly kind and gracious man’s soul.
Even if all they did was toss the seat and discs back over our fence, we’d be happy. Can’t see much value in an initialled bike seat and used discs with someone else’s contact info on them..
IF YOU SEE THIS BIKE OR THIS SEAT ANYWHERE - PLEASE CONTACT US BY DIRECT MESSAGE!!

Corn at walmart sargent has mice dropping.
Anyone who got corn from walmart sargent. I opened about 5 and all of them has droppings. I get insects but droppings in my food is a no no. Just PSA. I told about 4 people and they just didnt care. So watch for yourself.
Hungry thieves
To the two people who stole our first meal of the day hope the food tasted extra special knowing it came with free side dishes of inconvenience, stress, and bad karma. May your fries always be soggy and your drinks forever watered down 😅
I know of at least 1 downtown 24 hour convenience store that profits off addicts misery by selling them poison. Trying to make everyone aware so that police make this more of a priority.
reddit.comslow legal system?
Long story short and I won't say for what, but I got arrested and charged a couple weeks ago. I'm lawyered up and confident with how things will proceed but slightly concerned as the case hasn't reached the Crown yet. There are circumstances around wanting my case to hit the Crown that are fairly important and its been fairly distressing to say the least.
Anybody else with recent experience deal with the legal system lately? I heard at one point it should take a week but yeah I don't know, never planned on this happening in my life lol.

winnipegsun.comTelling who this City Councillor thinks she works for
“Self-employed” huh? Of course she thinks she works for herself and not the people or city of Winnipeg. If it wasn’t apparent enough by her action (and inaction), her Facebook employment status lets it be known.
