Does the Withings Body Scan / Body Scan 2 / Body Fit fail as much as the Hume Body Pod?

I have a Hume and 60% of the time it fails even with damp hands and feet. I just got a Withings Body Comp off FBM for $90 and it is very consistent and never fails on me. I want the scale with the handle for better metrics though so I'm considering either a Body Scan or a Body Fit. I guess if there won't be a noticeable difference I could stick with the Body Comp but I feel like I'll be selling the Hume on a 2nd hand marketplace.

Body Scan 2 - gotcha when not using handle

UPDATE: Withings have replied in thread to indicate the support response was wrong, and they will be adding this feature before official launch, so all good!

---

Just some feedback as it may be as annoying to others as it is to me:

On the body scan 1, if you used the scale without the handle it would still do the same measurements a normal scale would do and still associate them to your profile (so essentially everything without the ECG or Segmental body)

On the body scan 2, if you don’t use the handle it ONLY does weight, no other measurements. Additionally it doesn’t even assign that weight to your profile. This is intentional according to support:

“Please note that if you use the scale without the handle, only your weight will be displayed on the scale; other important measurements will not be captured.

Additionally, the scale does not prompt you to confirm or select your user profile because it requires the handle to enable profile selection or to cycle through different users. Without selecting your user profile, your measurements will not sync correctly to your account, which means your data may not be saved or tracked properly. Therefore, the handle is essential for obtaining accurate measurements and ensuring proper user identification. “

-
This is really annoying because it was handy to have the basic measurements when doing a daily weigh in, and only do the full handle based measurement (along with how long that takes to go through everything) every few days.

It’s poor in my opinion that unless you use the handle it won’t even record your weight against your profile, the most basic function of a smart scale

24M | New to Withings and my leaderboard is embarrassingly empty 😅

Hey everyone!

Just joined the Withings family and I’m loving the app so far – except for one tiny problem: my leaderboard looks like a ghost town. Turns out competing against yourself gets boring real quick (spoiler: I always win AND lose).

I’m 24, trying to get my fitness game together, and apparently my resting heart rate thinks I’m perpetually watching horror movies. Currently at 81 bpm which I’m told is “fine” but also “could be better” – classic.

Looking for some friends to add so I can:

•Feel motivated by your step counts
•Feel better about myself when you skip leg day too
•Actually use that “challenge friends” feature that’s been judging me

Whether you’re a fitness guru who’ll make me question my life choices, or someone who celebrates hitting 5,000 steps like it’s a marathon – let’s connect!

Drop a comment or DM if you want to add each other. Let’s make this leaderboard less sad together! 💪

Or use my add link. But i dont know if its allways the same link.(i mean if it will be changed if somone adds me)

Review of the Withings Body Scan 2 After Four Days of Use

I have been using the Body Scan 2 scale for four days now, and I want to share my short review. This is a 100% objective and realistic opinion. As a user of other competing scales, I believe my analysis is well-informed.

Hardware and Design

First of all, the hardware flaws from the first model have been resolved in this second generation. The mechanism for the retractable cord on the handle seems somewhat more reliable and of better quality; even so, I think it will cause problems in the future and remains a somewhat fragile component in my opinion. Although the feeling of fragility persists, the improvement compared to the first model is evident.

On the other hand, the inclusion of the screen on the handle seems like a great success. Now, the device shows if the user is positioned incorrectly and helps correct posture, which I consider a very positive feature. The system correctly detects whether the hands or feet are touching the body. However, out of approximately eight or nine measurements I have taken, one or two failed. Although the device is more reliable and delivers fewer measurement errors than the previous model, I believe it still needs a bit more polishing, though I suspect this is a software issue rather than a hardware one.

Regarding data accuracy, the body fat percentage is impressive. In my specific case, the Body Scan 2 registers 18.6%, while the dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan I had yesterday marks 18.5%.

App Experience and Synchronization

The installation of the application and the Wi-Fi configuration were completed successfully without any issues on the first attempt. However, I consider it necessary to mention that the device takes far too long to synchronize data once the measurement is complete. The results take one full minute to appear in the application, which seems like an excessive amount of time that the company should fix. In addition, some of the measurements and indicators turn gray when tapped and take a minute to load, which appears to be a glitch within the application itself.

The organization of the menus to access these measurements seems like a very poorly executed idea. It is very difficult to find things, and I believe the marketing regarding the sixty-plus indicators is a total stretch, as I cannot count more than forty. Many of these indicators are irrelevant artificial intelligence features, such as the energy score, which the application simply pulls from Health Connect via my Galaxy Watch. In fact, the integrated artificial intelligence in the application is garbage: it knows nothing, does not answer my questions, and provides very little detail. In my experience, it is much better to take screenshots of the data and send them to Gemini.

Subscription and Body Composition Metrics

Regarding the Withings Plus subscription, I see absolutely no value in it, and it is completely useless. Furthermore, there is a software error when attempting to activate the new unified 3D body composition view, as it fails to activate and the slider to enable it does not work. Additionally, it would be great if, right after taking a measurement, all the values were displayed together in a single report, rather than having to search for them later inside the menus.

There is very little detail regarding body composition and total body water. The system does not show fluid distribution, nor does it provide sufficient breakdown. Furthermore, the company advertises six zones of segmental composition, but I can only see five zones in the interface. It does not show protein mass either, and there are very few data points or details regarding metabolism and body composition.

Conclusion and Price-to-Performance Ratio

In short, the scale offers very few indicators for its price tag. For the four hundred and ninety-nine euros that I paid for it, I do not think it is worth it. I believe a fair price for this product would be two hundred euros. If the company wishes to maintain the price of four hundred and ninety-nine euros, the device should include many more high-quality indicators instead of relying on application functions like the energy score. The fact that they count the weather and rain forecast as an indicator is outrageous to me.

The user interface of the application needs a major overhaul and deep polishing. As for the hardware of the scale, I have no complaints: it is lighter, feels well-built, and is highly cutting-edge. However, on the firmware side, it lacks stability. It provides too few indicators for its cost, and the information it shows is not particularly relevant.

Can Withings app combine step data from multiple devices (Apple Health integration)?

Hi everyone,

I’d like to ask if anyone has experience using the Withings app with two different sources of step tracking.

Here’s my use case:
For everyday wear and general activity tracking (steps + other health metrics), I use my Withings ScanWatch. However, for running and sports activities I’d prefer to use a different, more sport-oriented device (Apple Watch, Garmin, etc.).

My main question is: does the Withings app combine step data from multiple sources into one unified daily total?

I’m using an iPhone with iOS, so I know the Apple Health app will aggregate everything. But I’d also like to see the same consolidated daily step count inside the Withings app itself – including challenges, badges, daily summaries, etc. – without having to wear two watches at the same time.

The reason I’m asking is that I also use a smart scale (not from Withings), and its data (weight, body fat, etc.) syncs into the Withings app just fine. From what I understand, it goes through Apple Health first and then gets pulled back into Withings.

So I’m wondering if steps work the same way.

If anyone has experience with this setup, I’d really appreciate your insights.

Unfortunately, I’ve reached a point where my Withings watch isn’t sufficient for running anymore, but I still like the design and ecosystem of the ScanWatch, so I’d prefer to keep it for daily wear.

And honestly… based on my experience with Withings software (I’m a developer), I’ve learned not to expect too much on the software side, so I’m already half prepared to end up wearing two watches anyway 😄

[iOS][$9.99 -> $4.99 lifetime] WeightSync Scales : Your smart scale weight, synced to Strava – zero effort

Hi everyone, I'm the solo developer of WeightSync Scales, an iOS app that automatically syncs your smart scale weight to Strava -- so your W/kg is always up to date without any manual entry.

What it does:

  • Smart Scale Integration: Connect your Withings or Fitbit scale directly to the app. Every time you step on the scale, WeightSync Scales reads the measurement from your scale's cloud and pushes it to your Strava athlete profile automatically. No tapping. No typing.
  • Automatic Sync: Weights are pushed to Strava without any manual action on your part. The app works even when closed, with background sync running silently in the background.
  • Retry Queue: If a sync fails (no internet, API hiccup), the measurement is queued and retried automatically. Nothing gets lost.
  • Smart Reminders: Gentle nudges on days you haven't stepped on the scale -- useful for athletes trying to build a consistent tracking habit.
  • Units: kg, lbs, and st -- your choice, we handle the conversion.
  • Languages: English, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), and more.

This is a solo project, and I'm still actively building it. Garmin scale support is coming soon.

Pricing:

Free to download. Premium unlocks unlimited syncs, the automatic retry queue, smart scale integration, and the Watch app.

---

If you're a cyclist, triathlete, or any athlete who tracks W/kg on Strava and owns a Withings or Fitbit scale, this app was made for you. Would love any feedback - and if you give it a try, a review on the App Store goes a long way for a solo dev.

Thanks for reading!

Got the Body Scan 2: My Honest First Impressions *German - YouTube

Hey r/Withings crew! 👋

I’ve been intrigued by the Withings ecosystem for years, coming mostly from a Garmin-data background. Well, I finally made the 'Daily Deposit' and got my hands on the new Withings Body Scan 2.

Crucially, I was lucky enough to be part of an initial Insider Program for early access, but let me be crystal clear: I paid for this unit myself. There's no sponsorship, and no content guidelines. I want to see if this is truly worth the 500€.

I’ve spent the last few days testing it, and I just posted my full deep dive first impressions video.

I wanted to share this here because I know many in this sub are deciding between this, older Withings models, or other ecosystems.

If you're curious, you can check out my first impressions deep dive video here: https://youtu.be/55AfZT10Km8

What are your first thoughts? Is segmental data proving consistent for you? What about the subscription?

Let’s discuss. Ciao!

Body Scan 2 and buying from Withings

Purchased the scale in the UK after an invite to the so called ‘Insider Program’. The scale itself is fine, nothing revolutionary, in my opinion. It doesn’t feel that different that vs BS1 other than its much lighter weight (which I dislike) and the placement of the display (which I love).

Not a word on what the Insider Program actually is more than 1 week in. Have been speaking to @TeamWithings via Reddit as no other channels worked- live chat were completely clueless. No phone number to call either.

Even getting Withings+ added to my account was a major hassle. Not done automatically and had to almost beg three different people until someone took pity on me. Not to say that I have seen any benefit of the service so far in insights or guidance provided.

Extremely disappointed as I paid a very high early admission fee for nothing. I normally get a 30% discount from work so feel lied to into buying this product with none of the benefits of early participation. After trying to resolve this for too many days in a row this £450 mistake is going straight back.

Body Scan 2 support pages are up

The Withings site has the Body Scan 2 support pages up. Already one difference between the EU and US models: Nerve Health Score is EU only. US has Electrodermal Activity.

Info page for the EU model has quite a bit of info describing how it works and why it's important, the US page is dumbed down quite a bit, probably to keep the FDA at bay. Yet it looks like it is the same measurement and scale with just a name change.

https://support.withings.com/hc/en-us/sections/42614337148049-BodyScan-2

So far, this is the only obvious documented difference.

Does the Withings Body Scan 2 use the same 13-frequency BIS technology up to 800 kHz as the BodyFit?

I would like to verify if the Withings Body Scan 2 utilizes the same 13-frequency Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (BIS) system up to 800 kHz found in the BodyFit. Additionally, which model offers greater accuracy for body fat composition analysis?

Getting worse and worse

I got my ScanWatch 2 replaced after the previous one developed a waterproofing issue only 2 years in. Condensation formed inside the watch after just a 5-minute swim in calm water…

Now, after another 2 years, the battery barely lasts 2 weeks, and every time I need to charge it, it turns into a 2-day fight with this useless charging dock that keeps connecting, disconnecting, and refusing to charge properly. I mean it uncharges the watch more than it charges it ... Sometimes going from 42% to 18% ....

How can a charging dock be this bad?

On top of that, every update seems to remove functionality. The ECG used to provide more detailed information, the SpO2 almost never works and constantly gives “inconclusive” results, and even slight movement or a heartbeat can cancel measurements.

Once this watch dies, I’m done forever with what used to be a good company but has now become a really disappointing one.

Anyone else having the same issues with the Withings ScanWatch 2?

Incident Detection - Watches

Do Withings watches have incident detection and automatic dialing initiation? I have seen that some Garmin watches can do this. I have a condition that causes random passing out, it's not very often but it can cause problems in the wrong places. I really like the Scanwatch Nova but don't want to spend 600€ if it can't do this.

Absolute joke of a customer service

The strap on my Pulse HR broke. Annoying, but not a huge deal… except replacement straps literally don’t exist anywhere anymore.

Customer support first told me they would send me a new one, which was great, because I wasn't even looking for a free one. A few days later: “actually never mind.” No replacement, no real solution, just a discount coupon to buy another product from them.

I get that the ranges change, but we're not talking about high tech here, just a plastic strap...

So basically, they drop support for their products insanely fast, turn working devices into e-waste, think a coupon makes up for it, and basically assume you're an idiot who will buy something else from them.

The tracker itself still works ok, but it’s now useless because of a simple strap. Great “sustainability.”

And even here, you're not allowed to talk about products they're not selling anymore, really great job. So for the record, no issue with the Body Scan, I don't have one.

Connect Withings to your AI, now with Wahoo and Concept2

Hi folks,

Quick intro for newcomers and a quick update for users. Freddy is a personal MCP server I built. You paste a URL into Claude / ChatGPT / Gemini / Perplexity and the AI can read your health and performance data in any conversation. Withings has been supported since launch (Body+, Sleep Analyzer, BPM, Pulse), alongside Oura, Polar, Suunto, WHOOP, Garmin, etc.

https://preview.redd.it/gwfp4xwkv31h1.png?width=546&format=png&auto=webp&s=fde1a18a16eb219b17b73052423a4f1a6bf06673

Two new beta sources went live this week:

  • Wahoo Cloud: ELEMNT, TICKR, KICKR, RIVAL
  • Concept2 Logbook: RowErg, SkiErg, BikeErg

More sources mean richer cross-domain queries. Scale, sleep, and BP next to a trainer log and erg sessions in one question.

You can check it out at freddy.coach.

Currently Withings, Polar, Oura, Suunto, Intervals.icu, Hevy are available to everyone. WHOOP, Dexcom, Strava, Garmin, Wahoo, Concept2 are in beta. You can request access from the dashboard.

I know health data is sensitive and I have handled it for years with fitIQ. Data is encrypted, I do not sell it, and I am not looking to make a profit off your stats, but if you still don't trust 3rd party solutions, just don't use it :)

BS2 Early Access for US customers

Just got this email - unfortunately the link doesn't go anywhere but to the regular Body Scan scale to order.

Hopefully they fix it soon.

EDIT: May be an error on their part - my US account got an email to purchase this, but a close examination shows the discount offered was in Euros?

It's confusing because I was offered a spot on this several months ago when it goes live for giving feedback on one of their products, but nothing ever arrived.

Hello, since the latest update (8.7.0), the app is frozen at this screen and i'm unable to use it.

Is this a known issue ?
