I just got a car so now i’m pinching pennies, my uni days last over 4 hours so i have to pay quite a bit just to attend uni with my car lol. anyone got any good spots they park at to avoid paying for a ticket? dm if you want to keep it quiet hahaha 🙈
If you enjoyed this joke get around my sub r/danielmuggleton or my YouTube as there's more on there. Cheers.
I got an acceptance from university of Wollongong (Wollongong campus) for dual masters degree in project management and supply chain management. I mean i am excited enough but is it worth it for the hefty amount we need to pay.Honest opinions and recommendations pls.THANKYOU!
We are a 30yo couple potentially moving to Wollongong/Illawarra region next year. Planning on starting a family next year too. Budget is $1m, 3br house (we love having guests stay over & I work from home, therefore need a home office space). Looking for freestanding house.
We have previously rented in Woonona for a few months and loved the beachy, north part of Wollongong. But with a 1m budget, buying house up north is not possible.
Priorities
- Nice area to raise a family
- Short commute to Gong hospital (partner works here)
- Walkable/cycle-able to train station/cafe/shops/restaurants (would be nice)
Which areas do the local redditors think we should check out?
Thanks
UOW students / Wollongong creatives — want to do something weird for Halloween?
I’m organising THE HOLLOW, a new Halloween event taking over Crown Street on 31 October and 1 November 2026, and I’m looking for students and emerging creatives who want to get involved.
This could look like a chance to trade as a stall holder on exchange at this event or our regular Markets in Shellharbour called The Nest Markets.
Maybe you’re an artist wanting to showcase your work, a performer wanting a stage, testing a small business idea, part of a student group, or you have a weird Halloween idea you’ve never had the chance to try.
Think Thriller flash mobs, murder mysteries, performances, art, cosplay, workshops, games, interactive activities or something completely different.
You don’t need an established business or a huge following. If you have an idea and want to try it with an audience, I’d love to hear it.
Comment below or send me a message. What would you create for Halloween in Crown Street?
Heyy, I’m a UOW student and honestly don’t really know many people here yet 😭😭
Looking to meet some new people, hang out, grab food/coffee or explore Wollongong.
If anyone’s in the same situation, hmu :)
Any police officers here tell me what it’s really like to work as a cop?
How busy are you really?
Generally do you really you have a lot of down time, sitting at the station, driving around patrolling in the truck/car, driving from welfare checks ect?
My ex was a cop and said they didn’t do a whole lot most of the time.
I see a lot of local cops just sitting around and cruising around all day.
Asking as im considering joining not having a go.
I'm trying to investigate/understand what made Keerong go bankrupt/how did the new buyers fix the land? Was it capped (the asbestos was buried and laid over) or was it cleared (excavated/removed)
Also some of my info may be wrong. just digging around to see what i can find.
Does anyone know ?
Hi all! First time poster (please be gentle!) I'm a local psychologist in the Illawarra and I see a lot of Autistic and ADHD individuals. Many of my Autistic clients are absolutely wonderful people, but very socially isolated. I'm wondering how I could connect them to D&D groups (as a non-gamer, I've been trying to learn about D&D and other table top games, it's a bit of a steep learning curve!) My understanding is that you need a DM and a group of people? I think I read that Good Games does this - but apart from them, how could I connect individuals to exisiting or new D&D campaigns, or other social-games evenings such as MtG etc. TIA :)
Wollongong ( my fav )
Figgy ( will actively avoid )
Corrimal
Fez mez
Bulli
Etc
Ik people who go out of their way to go to fez mez Woolies. THOUGHTS FEELINGS OPINIONS
I hate figgy mall. The parking is cooked, the traffic lights are cooked, takes 10+ mins to exit. What are ur thoughts. PLEASE SHARE THOUGHTS ON FIGGY MALL
Sup, I’ve been taking recycling batteries much more seriously as of recent. These are circuit boards & wires from vapes. I have no idea whether they are of use to anyone? Just checking before I go about recycling them. Ta.
Hi all,
We are a Sydney family looking to relocate down to Wollongong area. Port Kembla seems to interest us a bit.
Are we able to hear some positive/negatives for the area? We are the type of family that want a bit of a vibe…. One or two nice cafes for a Saturday morning, a decent pub, streets are relatively maintained kind of vibe. Is it sketchy? Are there young families about?
Sorry, I sound so ignorant but would love some honest feedback on the place! Note: I have never actually been to Port Kembla.
I go to the uow gym which is $17 a week since it was the easiest to get to. i just got a car so now i need to pinch pennies, anyone got any ideas for a gym cheaper than $17/week which still has all the good equipment and is comfortable/safe for women?
I'm looking to connect with other local people who run a small business, are building something on the side or have an idea they've been thinking about starting.
Not selling anything.
I'd just like to build a small circle of local people who are ambitious, share ideas, talk honestly about what's working and what isn't and potentially help each other grow.
I've built businesses myself and I'm always happy to share what I've learned, but I've realised lately that half the time I end up learning just as much from the person I'm trying to help.
Doesn't matter if you're doing $1m a year or haven't made your first dollar yet.
If you're around Wollongong/Illawarra and this sounds like you, drop a comment or send me a message
Okay let me start with my wish list and let’s see what you can recommend please:
- no more than 20mins from Dapto
- looking for group classes only (no 24/7 gyms like fitness first etc.)
- looking for strength and conditioning focus with progressive overload programs, 1RM testing
- CrossFit elements okay but not top of my list
- somewhere with a spot I can pop my toddler on days I don’t have care for them
- community!!!
Would love to hear where everyone trains and what you love about it!
