I'm currently trying to OTP Yorick in ranked any role and im starting to slow down after hitting plat2. I've been going grasp or dft, but I feel like with where hes at right now he could be doing more. But now I'm getting a little more nervous with this coming patch where all his counters are getting buffed.

I don't have the best csing early because I play passively even with a lead and im trying to fix it.

Any ideas or tips would be helpful.

Asking primarily to any Master+ or at least Diamond Yorick main. I feel like the Maiden power spike is negligible compared to pre rework and it's not supposed to be like that. I don't even feel the Maiden magic damage with Yorick auto attacks anymore. Ghouls are weaker, I understand that. I could say 8 current ghouls are weaker than 4 pre rework ghouls, but maiden and Q should be stronger.

I just don't find myself winning any trades not even if I have absolutely everything: ghouls, a perfect cage, Q with grasp/full conqueror I feel like level 6 is too weak. Isn't Yorick supposed to be a lane bully now?

So i used to like playing yorick jgl, but i had a long break form him is he good/bad in jgl right now ?

After the midscope, Yorick was left with a kit that feels weak and bad to play. I think the reason is not only that his agency is now even lower than before, but because his kit makes no sense. There are more scenarios where the kit nerfs itself and helps the enemy, than the scenarios where it actually have some sort of sinergy.

PASSIVE:

- His passive is useless. It is only noticable in lategame when you want to push without Maiden, or you sent Maiden to a lane before, it can save you 4 seconds at best at the cost of having no passive all the earlygame and midgame.

- Ghouls are not the main source of anything. Not the main source of damage, not the identity of the champion.

Q and GHOULS:

- Q: Every single bit of power is in his Q. If you cant win short trades with it, you cant do anything. If you cant get close to hit it, you cant do anything. Same with getting outscaled so Q deals too little damage compared to other abilities (most of the time Q in lategame does 30% the damage of other champion's abilities) for example Nasus, Camille. In many matchups, champions that have abilities similar to Yorick's Q, deal so, so much more damage in a similar or even lower cooldown, that it makes Yorick literally useless and solo lose the game because of the pick.

- Q and GHOULS (longest part of the post): Most champions have some sort of sinergy in their abilities. Before the rework, Q was NOT enough no make Yorick a menace, he needed Q and E with ghouls. Ghoul damage couldn't be ignored and Q provided quick damage and healing. E alone was still powerful in lategame, at the cost of a very bad earlygame.

Now, Q is pretty powerful alone, but its still not enough to make Yorick a champion. In lane, the only thing you can do is poke with it, and you still need to set up graves and hit E to deal decent damage. Q + E is now weaker, since ghouls die faster, attack slower, and deal a lot less damage. However, the problem is not that. The part that does not make any sense is that ghouls can HURT THE DAMAGE OUTPUT of Q, at the point ghouls can even heal 300% the damage you dealt with Q. So, we have the only champion in the game who has an ability that heals the enemy and gives you nothing in return.

E:

- % armor reduction is a lot better than the previous ghouls damage amplification. It is still incredibly lower % than other champions that get it for free and not in a skill shot. The damage and scaling of the ability itself are a joke, which leaves Yorick with only one ability that deals damage + ghouls, which are also a joke. Its a good ability, probably the most solid Yorick ability because it amplifies Q and ghoul damage. The slow is nonexistent, Yorick is no longer a necromancer, he needs better cc.

BASE STATS AND SCALINGS:

- Yorick is the squishiest """juggernaut""" in the game but lets be real, he isnt a juggernaut. His base stats are terrible. Other champions get the same or higher base stats but with an actual passive (Sett gets free 40% attack speed from level 1, Nasus gets free lifesteal and scaling) or they get a lot more tools at the cost of durability, but they are still tankier than Yorick (Volibear gets healing, shielding, hard cc, hybrid damage, better early and lategame).

W: For a necromancer who needs some safety and spacing, W was fine. It didnt have much range but it was balanced because it wasnt overpowered against champions with longer range, and it was a good tool to escape/make a room to wait for cooldowns vs melee champions. For the current Yorick, who wants to hit Q and stay at melee range while ghouls are up, the ability has too little range. Renekton can dash in and dash out and his dash is longer than W range, for example.

TL;DR: post midscope yorick feels terrible because his kit lacks synergy and actively antisynergizes with itself. Ditching his necromancer identity left him as the squishiest "juggernaut" in the game, forced to rely on an weak asf Q while his ghouls, passive and CC are so weak they often benefit the enemy more than him.

Been going rav hydra 1st item into sojin bc. Been working out well incredible sustain and good kill pressure. Tri 2nd works too the extra attack speed saved me a couple times. Still testing builds but I quite like it early.

Just to pretense, yes I’m aware this character kinda sucks.

I can win laning phase somewhat consistently, but I struggle to take turrets or impact in other ways. This is due to the fact that, as far as I’m aware, you pretty much can’t E the enemy under turret once you have Maiden without her killing herself, and Yorick also can’t really proxy. The fact that you can’t poke combined with the fact that you can’t proxy leaves me at kind of a loss of what to do when the enemy is perma farming under turret without allowing me to hit it.

I am not a yorick main. I always liked the champion's theme and desing, but i am a jungler so didn't play him much at all. This patch his jungle win rate looked very good, so i gave it a shot and like him a lot.

What confuses me, is why on lolalytics, Liandry's as a 3rd item has such a good win rate, and why is it relatively popular? I mean sure it has a low sample size but i am surprised it is even listed at the near top items when he only has 0,03% AP scaling on his E. I would think usual brusier items like DD, Maw, Sterak or Spirit Visage would just be better. I wouldn't even think going AP, and if you told me i HAD to pick an AP item for Yorick it would be Rylai's for the slow.

Is there anything i am not considering? Some tactic or mechanic only seasoned Yorick veterans know?

His level 1-5 is probably the weakest in the game. His level 6 is negligible compared to more than half other toplaners. His post 6 is still not comparable with early game bullies or even champs that are great lategame like Sett. He is the only champ in the game unable to control the wave. He is the only champion in the game who can actively heal the enemy every wave.

He has no innate grievous wounds yet he can heal more than 50 hp per ghoul at level 10, 600+ hp per ghoul lategame. He has no unconditional mobility, yet his only conditional movement speed boost is weaker and shorter than other ms boosts. He has no hard cc, yet he can still proc Fiora's W cc. His only utility does scales like shit with levels (you have to put three points on W to make it scale).

His ult has insanely long cooldown and can be insta killed by almost every toplaner. His main ability, Q, scales like garbage with levels (you dont even get meaningful cdr). E armor reduction sucks, scales poorly and other stronger champions in the early game have it for free and not conditional. He does not have a passive.

- there are better, easier low elo stompers.

- he is probably the only champion in the game that is not rewarding for skill, not at all.

- there are better, easier split pushers.

- he is probably the worst teamfighter in the game.

- there are better, easier fighters.

- most fighters have faster wave clear.

- he is probably the worst lategame champion.

- he has a single weak powerspike, most of the time is not even worth to use ult.

- his midgame is just statistically weak, other champions have more winrate both in early, MIDGAME and lategame.

- his ONLY gimmick which is pushing multiple waves is useless in decent elos. Yorick's wave clear is slow as fuck anyway.

Is there a reason to play Yorick?

Am I the only one that has trouble with Garen? I feel like his sustain and wave clear give you no kill pressure and shoving into his tower just allows him to safely clear the wave and scale or wait for a gank.

Can’t really split push against him because his movement speed. New ghouls do no damage with his W. What are your thoughts? He’s perma’d for me until I figure it out

Hiya, I'm a diamond toplane main who's main core roster is: Illaoi, Mordekaiser, and Ornn, all champs that sucks into Yorick. I've been considering banning Yorick but I still ban Kayle instead. I've been playing a bit of Shen, but it doesn't feel like a counter as such especially as I'm not comfortable on him. What champs are reliably good into Yorick that doesn't require me to learn Irelia (who is very hard).

Should the Maiden get some kind of out-of-combat max-health healing, like Tibbers?
I understand she’s frustrating to deal with if you’re melee, but ranged champions and mages can easily get her low without much risk. And in the late game, it’s even more of a joke to kill her.
If she dies, she dies, I’m okay with that. But if I’m able to keep her alive, I’d rather have her heal back up in 15/20 seconds than have to recall. I understand this could be a big buff, but with Yorick being designed to sustain and constantly keep pushing lanes, his ult shouldn’t be unable to match his laning power.
You either let her die or just give up pressure and recall. It just doesn’t feel right to me.
Thoughts?

My first ever champ I played was Yorick the week after he came out on his free rotation. After the week was up I begged my dad to let me get RP to buy him. He (a gamer himself) told me that I would appreciate it much more if I had to grind the points to buy him myself. So I did. I loved old Yorick. I felt that he was highly overlooked and overhated due to his early-mid game bully nature. But how you used that early mid game power to try to set ur team up for a win or end the game early was the true skill cap of a Yorick, every game was a ticking clock to you getting out scaled, so you had to use that lead wisely or go 0/5 past 25 minutes. Not the hardest, nor the most skill intensive champ, but I loved the Omens and I loved him. And as a younger and less skilled player, his simple mechanical requirements helped me learn and focus on the macro game which I attributed with helping me improve at the game. After he was removed combined with just not liking the game as much anymore I stopped playing league.

With how much riot seemed to dislike old Yorick :( what do you all think are the chances we see him in League Classic? I have started playing it a bit and am really liking it, and with another "jank" champ in Morde being confirmed to be coming, is there a chance we see the old hunchback in his full glory?

hello everyone, im new here and i just want to share why i play yorick.

when i turned 19, i was experiencing my first fight with loneliness. i believe that finishing school always brings us some contact with being alone, but i lost so many friends due to different paths in life, fights, choices, and many other reasons.

in league, i used to be very stressed, angry and hateful; i was a perfectionist lillia/kayn main, always blaming others when things went "wrong" and saying mean stuff to my team.

one day, i was scrolling my youtube home page, and a video about yorick's lore appeared. i got interested because all my friends told me he was weak, braindead and a noob friendly champion, so i wanted to see if riot wrote him badly or if it was a cool story.

but then, when i heard his line "i am enough" and got to know everything about his century-long life mission all alone, only hearing voices and dealing with corpses, all for the sake of the same living that despised him because he was strange, i got really inspired.

nowadays, i try my maximum to be chill in league chat, motivate my team, and realised winning is not doing everything perfectly, sometimes we make mistakes, but its about seeing what we can do to deal with the consequences and persevere to the end, because we always have a chance.

i dont try to steal my teammates kills anymore, i dont need the perfect kda, i just try to be smart, take towers down strategically and be a frontline to my mates in teamfights.
