List wedding ring

Hi everyone, hoping someone might have some advice.
We've just arrived home to Scotland after spending a few days in York. After checking out of the DoubleTree hotel, my husband realised his wedding ring was missing. He's almost certain he left it in our hotel room, but the hotel has checked and says it hasn't been found.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows of anywhere else we could contact in case it was handed in? On the off chance he dropped it outside the hotel, is there a local lost property service or anywhere else that might be worth trying?
The ring is absolutely irreplaceable as it was made from my late mum's jewellery, so we're devastated.
Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Vulnerable 65 yr old in need of care, pest control and furniture

Hi, hoping someone can help with this.

She has just had emergency spinal surgery but prior to that had convinced herself she had bedbugs so got rid of all or her furniture. In need of someone to check for/treat the insect problem and help find some furniture as she has nowhere to sleep. I've been looking at some age UK stuff for post surgery that will be helpful but we cant do that until we sort out her flat

Things to do

Hey everyone we're coming to stay in York soon. Any ideas on what to do? We like days exploring cities, chill/fun vibes nothing too crazy. Love a good cocktail and crazy golf. We also love escape rooms if there's any good ones. We like to not book breakfast at hotel so we can go enjoy breakfast in the city too if anyone's got any recommendations. Also anywhere nearby nature lovers here/castles to enjoy. Thank you all.

Hi! I'm planning on having my hen do in York, do you have any recommendations for places;

- creative (something like pottery painting etc)

- active (e.g. nice walks/hikes nearby)

- nerdy (gaming bars, board game bars etc)

Thanks :)

Help finding shop please!

SO went to York with The Girls & found a hippie shop selling Asian/Indian print clothes, she liked a leopard printy/tigery one but her extremely tedious friend bought it first.

She can't recall the name of the shop, but when asked if it had any distinguishing features, she said it had "racks on each side, and racks in the middle." Don't downvote me, downvote her.

Anyone got any idea what shop she might be talking about?

Cat for attention, he just bit me though.

Dog friendly swimming recommendations (preferably not rivers)

Looking for places to go swimming within 30 mins of York. Dog has always enjoyed swimming - I am not as good - but recently enjoyed our time in Margate swimming in the sea. Ideally lakes or still water that are safe for dogs

New Fast Food at Monks Cross

Do we know which fast food outlet is going in the car park of Lidl at Monks Cross?

We already have the Maccies and BK there plus Taco Bell, so assume it is something like Wendy's, Popeyes or Dunkin?

URGENT - STUDENT ROOM TAKEOVER NEEDED

URGENT - STUDENT ROOM TAKEOVER NEEDED

My flatmate has had issues with funding, and needs to leave to go back to the US on the 1st of September. This means that unless we find somebody to take over her tenancy before then, my tenancy will also end on that day, leaving me with nowhere to live. This is a lovely flat, and perfectly suits my needs as a disabled student, and I cannot afford to lose it. Please if you need a room in York from the start of September, message me. Ground floor, very close to YSJ and shops, and bus route to UOY. £750/month

What are these lines on the House?

Sheltering from the rain yesterday I noticed these swirly lines on the river. There hadn't been any traffic on the river for >10 minutes and I think they only appeared when it started raining. What could have caused it?

i’ve tried multiple apps and taking advice from other reddit posts but i cannot seem to find something that helps. any advice or suggestions would be amazing!

Anywhere in York that would buy bulk Pokémon cards?

Hiya, I recently did a huge clean and found bulk stacks of Pokémon cards I am wanting to sell. These range from base set 2, year 1999-2000, and a mix of some from the 2000s. I’ve got a few holo/shiny cards and also a lot of energy and trainer cards. The condition is mixed, some lightly played / some heavily played.

I was wondering if anyone knows somewhere in York that would buy bulks of Pokémon cards, or would be able to go through it to see if they’d take any of them?

I’m considering selling the more valuable cards on eBay or vinted, but selling the rest as a bulk. The only thing is unfortunately I’m very busy and feel like I’d rather just sell it all at once.

Just wanted to ask for suggestions and opinions - thank you in advance!

Humphrey Smith is dead.

Let's all share our fondest memories. Mine is when he forbade the residents of Tad from building a bridge when the floods destroyed the proper one, meaning people had to take a 10 mile round trip to get to the other side. Truly brings a tear to the eye.

Suitable location to have a TEAMs interview …

Hi all,

Can you recommend anywhere suitable somewhere relatively close to York train station that is open before 0900 for a teams interview (via my phone).

I can see plenty of known chain coffee shops but my concern is that they’ll be far too loud.

Thank you

Moving to York

Myself and my partner are moving to York city centre next weekend, we know nobody there!

We are very excited of course as we are moving from Plymouth which is boring and sad.

We are both aspiring musicians, I play guitar to a very average standard and she plays guitar and sings. We are into folk music and indie folk rock style of things!

We were wondering where the music scene is? Best open mic night? Where the best gigs are / best pubs for music? Any nice communities where amateur musicians hang out ect?

All info is greatly appreciated! :) Hope you all have a good day

Light bites options?

Hi Reddit, sorry for the food recommendations post but we've tried a bit of rummaging and we're coming up short.

A relative is visiting us here soon and she has a small appetite and a seafood allergy. Is there anywhere folks would recommend as a good place to eat that also would cater for these requirements (in an evening meal)?

Thanks!
