TLDR: I've been using Premium for 2 years, I am, in fact, based in the country I subsribed from, I pay with my local card, but I use VPN often, as YouTube works really slow with my provider.
YouTube canceled my subscription.

Will be able to renew it at all once it's completely expires?

I know it's a common issue here, but I couldn't find a post describing my exact situation, so your assistance is much appreciated.

I've been a Premium user for about 2 years. A couple of weeks ago I received an email stating that my subscription will be canceled on May 30 because I am presumably using Premium from another country.

I have never tried to buy Premium at a cheaper price or anything like that, the region in my Google account (as well as my payment profile) matches my actual country, and I've been paying with a card of my local bank.

Initially, I subscribed from my iPhone, but about a year ago, I canceled that subscription and renewed it from my old Pixel phone because Apple charges extra.
No issues at all until recently.

At some point, I started experiencing connection issues (probably due to provider restrictions), so I rarely disable my VPN, and this is likely what triggered the cancellation.

I can't renew it from iPhone (there is only purchase history from 2024 before I renewed from Pixel), and nothing works (tried without VPN, from different phone, PC, etc.).

I was able to reach out to the YouTube support team and explained the situation.
The agent said that it'll be fine, and I just need to wait and keep using it without a VPN for a while, which sucks in my case, but I'm doing it for now.

So, will I be able to just renew after May 30, or am I locked forever?

YouTube Premium is one of those subscriptions I keep questioning, but every time I cancel it, I notice the difference almost immediately.It’s not like Netflix or Disney+ for me, where I open app because I want to watch a specific show or movie. YouTube is more like background infrastructure in my day. I use it for random tutorials, music, podcasts, cooking videos, reviews, language learning, and sometimes just noise while I’m doing chores.That’s what makes it annoying. I don’t feel excited to pay for it, but I feel irritated when I don’t have it.It doesn't seem too exaggerated to write these functions separately. No ads, background play, downloads, YouTube Music. I still think the price is getting harder to justify, especially with how many other subscriptions people already have now. But at the same time, YouTube Premium is one of the few subscriptions where I actually feel the inconvenience right away when it’s gone.Does anyone feel the same way? Not exactly happy paying for it, but also not happy without it?

I've been using YTP for years without issues. Suddenly, overnight, it no longer works. When locking the screen while a video is playing, the video stops. Interestingly, tje video doesn't "pause" it simply gets stuck in buffering and doesn't play until I unlock the screen.

I've checked all the relevant Android and YouTube settings and see no issue. All background play and data is turned on. My premium account is still active (picture-in-picture works just fine). I've restarted my phone and the app and theres no pending update... Having no luck. Any help?

(I'm on Android 16, One UI 8.5, on Galaxy S26 Ultra.

So basically this is my situation:

My family (dad, dad's wife, my mom ) have been using a family plan for Google One that I have been paying for them. I also have my work account and my personal account in there. They can't afford a plan on their own and they really needed to have Google One Sadly.

The thing is that not so long ago I moved from my third world country to Europe to try and start a better life but ever since then my YouTube premium subscription has been terminated by Google since my personal account doesn't appear located in Home country anymore.

I have been trying everything to make it work (keep the family plan and have YouTube premium in my personal account) but I have failed. I can't afford to pay for two plans either. I can barely afford this one and my family can't pay it either....

I also have Autism and the intrusive youTube ads are a nuisance that overstimulate me a ton so that is why I need to find a solution. In my personal laptop I have an ad Blocker but I haven't been able to install one of those in my phone which is what I use at work and in other places.

Do you have any idea how can I fix this ?

My yt premium family got charged more than expected. Is this normal? I thought it was going to be 26.99

I have had youtube premium since it used to be called youtube red… since they continue to raise the price per month, ive had to make the decision to cancel..

Like the title said they increased their price it renewed and now it forces ads more often than having it for free. Cleared cache, uninstalled, and logged out and still is messed up. Chatted with YouTube support and their literally retarded and don't care. Won't refund the renewal, Won't fix the issue. Google play shows it active and payment processed and so does support but they refuse to refund or fix it.

They said other people are having the same issues and engineers are working on it.

Obviously theyre morons because the engineers messed it up to begin with.

Anyone else having issues?

Edit: My non student account email has a free trial for a month after not having premium for years and after activating it, testing it out. I switched to the non working account and low and behold it works like it should.

Youtube engineers are legit idiots and messed up the handshake verification in the code from their own parent servers. Apparently youtube servers are having issues acknowledging Google servers verifying certain things, which is why now a separate approved active account gets the stuck account working fine.

This should count as a vulnerability bounty. And yes I had deleted EVERYTHING. And it still had issues until "tricking" it.

Now if only the pirates could make it so I didnt have to use a student discount to do like 7 steps to get youtube for free via gift cards and cash back.

About to try out YouTube premium and really only see myself needing the Lite tier. But also figured I might as well try out regular premium since it’s free for the first month. Just didn’t know if I’d be able to try out Lite on a trial afterward.
