Driving a brand new ZX4RR home 250+ miles?

Is this a good idea?

Would anyone be able to help me how fast I can go in 6th gear while staying under 4-5k rpm? Since that is what the break in procedure requires?

The speed limit on the freeway back home is 65-70. Many people in the left lane will likely be going 80.

Is it a dumb idea to ride it home? I could have a friend ride behind on the way home as well in his car.

ABS bleed - OBD2 ABS cycle?

I'm overdue to bleed the brakes on my 2024. From googling around it seems like people usually flush the fluid, then ride around and intentionally trigger the ABS, then flush again.

Since the front and rear circuits are different, so it's two completely separate bleeds on both front and rear. What a PITA!

Is there a way to use a bidirectional OBD2 scanner to cycle the ABS to flush everything in one go? There seem to be adapters to connect the ports, but I can't find any useful info on whether you can control the ABS module that way.

zx4rr for a2 a good idea?

Hey, i’ll be getting my A2 in a few months and I’m really into the zx4rr for it’s high revving engine, sporty look and feel and overall vibe. Is it worth it to get it now or should i wait until i get my A licence?

Made a Tool to Adjust the Front Fork Preload

Just showing off this tool I made to adjust the preload on the front fork without damaging the metal of the weird adjustment screw. If anyone wants the file, let me know.

I ended up setting mine to 6 turns and it feels perfect for my weight of 200 lbs.

Here is the 3D model file if anyone wants to print one themselves: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3008656-zx-4rr-front-fork-pre-load-adjustment-tool#profileId-3378721

170/60 Rear Tire

Anybody up-sized to a 170 rear tire? Did it fit the stock 4.5" rim alright? How did it perform compared to the 160? Any complaints?

I'm not asking because it "looks cooler" or some bullshit; I want the bike to feel a little more planted/stable, especially with a passenger. Nimble is fun, but sometimes it feels..... squirrelly in the corners (could be suspension, skill issue, yes I'm aware)

Experimenting With 3D Printed Radiator Guard

Just wanted to see what y'all thought about this idea. I've been riding around with a few prototypes the last few days and initial results have been encouraging. I tried to balance protection from rocks with the least obstructive airflow design I could come up with. I haven't noticed any obvious increase in coolant temps and it was around 100f today. My biggest concern with the 3d printed aspect of this would be the part's resistance to heat deformation. This prototype yellow one is ABS with glass fiber reinforcement. So far there are no signs of deformation. It weighs only 60 grams so weight impact is negligible.

Should I get a ZX-4RR or an Aprilia RS457?

I'm a new rider. I did about 1600 miles on a scooter through Vietnam, and just the MSFT course. I'm 6'2" and about 210lbs.

I know they're not really in the same class technically but I've narrowed down my search to one of these. I can get a used one where I'm at in a similar ballpark for price and it's an amount I can afford.

I'm leaning ZX-4R because I figure stock I can get comfortable with it an learn, then when I'm a bit more experienced I can get it flashed and not have to bother with finding a whole new bike. But also considering the Aprilia because some have said the lack of torque on the ZX is frustrating so I'm a bit torn.

I figure this sub will have some bias of course but could use some thoughts!

Best allen set?

Looking for a good set of metric allens, since I thought mine were good, but they keep stripping some of the shallower bolts on this bike (namely the tank bolts). Anyone running a good set with sharp edges that seems to fit really snug?

Who would want this?

After buying a zx4rr i’ve been doing my best to break it in as quickly as possible (while still following the manual). i’ve come to the point where im able to actually start using some of its top end power and frankly im disappointed… now my bike is restricted and i know it will be a massive change once i flash it but like seriously to people who don’t flash it/don’t want to or for whatever reason it wasn’t possible. whats the point??

Will removing rear brake light switch cause ECL?

I’m installing woodcraft rear sets on my track bike and I plan on removing the rear brake light switch. Has anyone here done this and did it cause an engine check light?

ZX-4rr Brembo Upgrades - Part 2

Front calipers are on, and wow they stop hard! The braking power is fantastic. They do work with the stock 14 mm master cylinder, but I wouldn't recommend keeping it that way. The lever travel is noticeably longer than I'd like, even though the brakes still feel strong and inspire plenty of confidence.

The stock brakes work very well for what they are, but these Brembo's are on another level. They're slightly lighter than stock as well but it's like 60 grams total.

Next up is a Brembo 19RCS Corsa Corta master cylinder, which I'll be ordering this week to give the calipers the master cylinder they deserve.

Advice for first time buying from dealer?

Thinking of picking up a new 26' ZX4RR from a dealer nearby. All of them seem to have it listed as $9,999.

Can I negotiate?

If so what should I offer?

Will they even budge?
