


Beam vs Sharkboy and Lavagirl (The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 2005)
Beam is my favourite character so I had to get a good matchup for him!
Interested to see how high everybody scales him.
Battlefield
San Fransisco near the Golden Gate Bridge. I wanted to get a good city landscape with enough water for Beam and Sharkboy
Here’s an extensive scale for Sharkboy and Lavagirl, because I don’t expect anybody to have watched this movie as much as I did as a kid.

Rough scaling: Wall level to possibly small building level depending on how generously you take Planet Drool physics.
Feats
Physically fights and destroys multiple dream creatures throughout Planet Drool.
Can casually leap massive distances and tackle enemies hard enough to send them flying.
Bites/claws through durable enemies and machinery-like constructs.
Keeps up in combat against threats capable of damaging parts of Planet Drool’s environments.
Trades blows with enemies that threaten entire regions of the dream world.
A lot of Sharkboy’s scaling comes from the fact that Planet Drool is a semi-reality-warped dream dimension where the environment itself can become dangerous. His feats are goofy, but surprisingly consistent physically.
Durability
Rough scaling: Wall level+, maybe higher with cartoon durability.
Feats
Gets slammed around repeatedly by monsters and keeps fighting.
Tanks falls and impacts that would instantly KO normal humans.
Handles underwater pressure and dangerous environmental hazards.
Shows strong stamina throughout extended fights and chase scenes.
He benefits heavily from “kids movie durability,” meaning he shrugs off punishment that would realistically paste a human.
Speed
Rough scaling: Peak/superhuman movement speed.
Feats
Swims at extremely high speeds.
Reacts to fast-moving dream creatures.
Performs rapid aerial flips/leaps during combat.
Crosses large distances very quickly during chase sequences.
He’s athletic and fast, but not really anime-speed unless you massively highball dream-world scaling.

Threatens multiple enemies simultaneously with AoE attacks.
Lavagirl is honestly the heavy hitter of the duo.
Durability
Rough scaling: human level durability, but building level against heat and impacts.
Feats
Survives her own lava/fire output.
Tanks explosive environmental hazards.
Endures prolonged combat against dream monsters.
Her heat resistance is especially absurd since she casually exists inside lava-level temperatures.
Speed
Rough scaling: Superhuman.
Feats
Flies rapidly across Planet Drool.
Dodges attacks midair.
Keeps pace with Sharkboy during combat scenarios.
Biggest Weakness
A lot of their feats rely on dream-world logic, so they might scale much lower in reality.
Verdict
Beam would no diff Sharkboy imo, because I think he just simply has way better stats with similar fighting styles. The 2v1 makes it far more interesting because I think Lavagirl can very effectively damage him if he isn’t careful.
I believe Beam is more open to wide-spread city damage, whereas Sharkboy and Lavagirl might try to be more careful. Therefore I’ll still go with Beam med diff to high diff due to the setting enabling him to ambush Lavagirl, especially if she is worried about compromising the battlefield.
