Sharing one of my favourite childfree content creators: Chelsea Fagan (@thefinancialdiet)

I'm a 30+ CF woman and I care very little for the majority of modern day 19 y.o. content creators. I much prefer content creators that are mature, sane and actually discuss life topics with depth that comes from personal life experience.

One of my favourite content creators just released a new video called 'no one is entitled to a child', discussing how society views fertility, the fertility industry, the focus on motherhood and how it (negatively) impacts women. Chelsea is a 37 y.o. childfree woman herself and she also discusses her view on being childfree in a fertility focused society. Her channel is fully woman owned and women run too.

It's a 40 minute video/podcast, perfect to listen in the background. Here's the link.

She also has a series called 'just getting good' in which Chelsea interview woman 50+ (and 60/70/80+) about their life, lived experiences and advice to younger women. The women she interviews are from all walks of life (both CF and non-CF) with very interesting perspectives on life imho. Here's the playlist.

This is not an ad or whatever. Just wanted to share CF content I love with this community of like-minded women.

[MOD POST] Examples of the kind of content that is NOT welcome.

Yesterday, I made this post discussing that r/childfreewomen is a place that centers childfree women. That post was inspired due to the mods having to do a lot of moderating lately, with a lot of bans as consequence. The post didn't seem to make things clear enough, so here's a second post with (edited, generalized) examples of comments from the past two weeks or so that have led to people being banned from this place. And these are only truly a handfull of the instances we had to moderate...

This posts serves as an example of what it means to not center the lived experience of childfree women in their own space. I will link this post to the pinned mod post of yesterday to offer new visitors examples of what not to do in this sub.

On a post of how a childfree woman considers being a SAHM to be her personal idea of a living hell:

"I have two children and I am a SAHM who runs her own company from home while the kids are at school. I have plenty of social interaction with other adults because of my job! You can have children and still enjoy adult conversations."

--

On a post of how a childfree woman complaining that she is constantly expected to adapt her needs and sacrifice her comfort for the sake of parents/children:

"The world needs children, else we go extinct. Just go kill yourself if that's what you want."

"... But have you seen how much hate women who do want kids get?"

A mother posting a literal 500 word essay in a comment on how they have worked a lot in public facing jobs and that OP's lived experiences are not her lived experiences and that OP expressing her lived experience is demonizing children. "I get it, you don't want children. Snap back to reality and stop demonizing parents."

"Why all the hateful vibes? Why can't women just support other women."

--

On a post of how a childfree woman expressed herself enjoying the peace and quiet of her home after spending time with the young nieces who she loves but are quite much to be around:

"Even if you're childfree you should enjoy the children in your life. It's weird to just hate children like that."

--

On a post of a childfree woman who expressed her distress surrounding the idea of childbirth and the risks associated with childbirth as one of the reasons why she is childfree:

"Ok, but you should still be an ally of parents! Why are you judging women who give birth so much?!"

--

On almost all posts made by childfree women on any topic:

"I am a mother and I don't know why Reddit keeps recommending me these childfree subs or why I even clicked on this post, but I feel it's imported I give my opinion because your lived experience is not my lived experience so you might want to reconsider your perspective because you're wrong."

OR

"I am a mother and I agree with you guys. It's super important that I voice my opinion, take up space in this childfree community and validate your lived experience by adding my 2 cents.'

To all the childfree women in this community, when you see comments like the above: REPORT THEM and DON'T ENGAGE. There is no point feeding the negativity by engaging with these users. When you report the comments, the mods will get to them sooner or later to remove it and ban the user.
