I just rejected a position I want to be assured that I did the right thing
I got accepted to go into an AI Data Annotation role for Meta. Once I reviewed their lowkey scammy logistics (3 month contracts no end of renewal) and heard from workers from the inside that they don’t renew the contract till the last minute I felt like I had to let it go.
My job has been all over the place like everyone’s job at the moment but has employed me steadily as I have proved to do quality levels of labeling in my native language. But everyone that lasted the project has been demoted from QA, POC because it became too small.
I am an anxious person and know that I don’t work well with uncertainty at all. The contract would be the same rate as my current one but there was more promise of growth than my current one which sees no place for growth for the rest of the year at least.
Everything is really volatile now, so I wouldn’t trust Meta to just take me in and not fire me in the near future because they need to buy more hardware or whatever. If I got fired from them I would have had the hardest time getting back on my feet.
This was my logic to refuse it besides AI monitoring work and awful ethics from the company/CEO overall.
