I'm (30M) switching careers because my company went under (note that I am not affiliated atm with WLU but it is on my grad school wish list)

I have an undergrad background in mathematics and statistics and I'm back in university taking courses to sharpen my skills. I'm heavily considering becoming an accountant here in Canada but I may become an actuary (but I'm slightly leaning towards accounting)

So essentially I went to university with my childhood friend (32F) who is this cute ethnically South Korean girl who satisfies my weeb personality because she looks like an anime girl lol and it turns out that she's one of the bad guys now: she works in investment banking

I still have pics of her in my phone tho and I will never forget that moment where I was handing a textbook to her and I accidentally touched her breast with it 🥲

Something to consider

Canadian social media is botted to Hell and back by foreign agents who want to create an apocalyptic narrative about every aspect of this country, and it's reasonable to suspect that, while times are indeed tough, many of the negative anecdotes on Reddit and other forums never actually happened. It's also likely the case that many people are unhappy (for good reason), but the statistics concerning life satisfaction in Canada would not be as high if it weren't for the constant stream of bot-generated fake news and made-up negative stories online.
