How do reversals fit into your practice?

Hello!

I have been reading Tarot for over a year where I sometimes read for others but mostly read for myself. I do a 1-3 card pull every morning and journal.

In the last 3 months I have started reading reversals as I felt really comfortable with the upright meanings and wanted to expand my practice.

The problem is, especially when I read for myself, the reversals give me anxiety. Its a knee jerk reaction. I know no card is inherently negative, but my irrational brain feels like I "failed" when they come up. I struggle with perfectionism so Im assuming it has something to do with that. I often pull clarification cards for the reversals which usually help seeing them differently.

I recently went to a Tarot workshop run by a woman who I have seen many times and taken other workshops from. I asked her to better explain reversals and she was basically like "why are you giving yourself anxiety? Go to therapy or stop reading them".

I am in therapy. I didnt find her answer helpful.

I am trying to view them differently, maybe as a message of release. I am going to go through the deck and do an exercise with intuition to try to dig deep and make my own meanings but I thought I would ask here to see what others think about reversals to help me de-couple that knee jerk assignment of the "negative".

The 8s in the minor arcana

I had a bit of a breakthrough today when doing a reading, maybe a flash of intuition and I want to just brain dump and see what others think.

I got the 8 of Swords this morning. This is a card im familiar with and comes up a lot for me because I get myself trapped in thinking patterns and thoughts. In the same spread The Hanged Man was the potential outcome, which is when I got this flash.

How does one get unstuck?

We see the minor arcana within the suit as a journey in itself. Following the 8 we have the 9, the anxiety card, followed by the 10, the end is over only up from here.

But what if I can do something else?

When I was looking at the art of the cards (traditional Rider-Waite), the woman is bound and literally surrounded by her Swords. The 8 of cups flashed into my head, its the opposite. They are walking away from the cups, leaving them behind. Thats energetically the opposite of this card.

Swords --> Air --> East

Cups --> water --> West

I am also a practicing witch so if we go based on the directions of the elements in witchcraft they are also opposite.

So then I got the idea to pull all of the 8s out and put them together in the elemental directions:

Swords/Air/East --> Wands/Fire/South --> Cups/Water/West--> Pentacles/Earth/North.

When we look at the story of 8s across the suits, the story becomes clear. We need that spark, the passion and fast movement of the wands to free us of being bound in the Swords. We need to heal ourselves, flow through what got us stuck in the first place with the cups and leave it behind as it no longer serves us. Finally, we ground with the pentacles, getting out of the mental and into the physical, working towards mastery and seeing what we can build and develop.

I dont know if this is crazy but it was a huge breakthrough for me and I wanted to share

Looking for the Perfect Rider-Waite Deck

Hello!

I am looking for some suggestions for the perfect Rider-Waite deck. I have several but none of them are really connecting with me because I hate the backs of the cards for most of them. Here are the ones I have:

Radiant Rider-Waite in a Tin:

This one isn't terrible, I dont love the borders and I don't love the illustrations compared to the original. The backs are fine here.

Original Rider-Waite:

I like this deck but I hate the blue backs.

Rider-Waite in Yellow Box:

I especially hate the backs on these ones, it looks like a picnic blanket.

Centennial Rider-Waite:

Like the backs and the front but the cardstock is a bit thin. If the cards were a bit thicker this deck would be perfect.

Golden Art Nouveau:

Love the back and the gold foil but not super in love with the slight modification of the art.

Vintage Tarot:

I dont own this one but I have looked through it. I like the backs but im not super into how muted it is or the fake water marks to make it look old.

Modern Witch Tarot:

Love this deck but a few cards Im not happy with the way they modernized the originals.

Does anyone have any other decks I might not be aware of? If you do have a suggestion could you please provide a picture of the backs?

Hello,

Recently new to mediumship, I'm slowly trying to develop my skills and receive messages from passed loved ones.

I lost my mother and my grandmother in 2021. I feel like I am starting to sense my grandmother near me now that I am opening myself but have not sensed my mom. I would love to know if anyone has any messages from them to help me down this path or if there is anything they want to let me know.
