Combat balance question

Hello everyone,

I'm 6 sessions into running a new slow-burning Mythic Bastionland campaign for 4 players. So far the exploration and factional politics aspects of the game have been great, but last session the players finally got to the end of a myth for the first time.

They were tracking down The Forest (pg41) and fought the Fearmonger. To be honest, the fight was a joke, they killed it while only losing a point or two of guard. Every turn multiple players were denying its attacks and doing so much damage they killed it before fatigue mattered. The fight against the three guardians of the forest previously was much more intense as the players were split up. I could have been harsher with environmental effects not listed on the Fearmonger's stat sheet, but i was hesitant to do so before knowing how easy it would be.

I'm here to ask anyone who has solved this problem how they make singular big monsters more threatening in their games? (has anyone tried giving big monster attacks a close-range blast?)

Thanks in advance for any advice offered.
