Seeking participants: Research on men’s spiritual experiences within Wixarika and Yawanawa traditions
Hi! 👋
I’m Stephen, a doctoral researcher at VID Specialized University (in Oslo, Norway) conducting research on men’s lived experiences within spiritual group practices.
I’m interested in men who have participated in ceremonies or group practices within Wixarika or Yawanawa spiritual traditions, and who identify with these spiritual frameworks. I want to understand how these experiences shape meaning-making, identity, and existential understanding.
I’m looking to speak with men with direct experience participating in Wixarika or Yawanawa ceremonial or spiritual group contexts who are willing to share their experience confidentially.
What’s involved:
• One interview via Zoom or Teams (\~60-90 minutes, your schedule)
• Completely confidential and voluntary
• You’ll receive and sign an informed consent form beforehand
Important to mention, is that this research has ethics approval from SIKT (Norwegian data protection authority). I conducted initial fieldwork in Costa Rica (in 2025) with both communities, and this recruitment is part of that ongoing study.
