Just finished the book last night. Oh boy

⚠️THIS IS MY OPINION⚠️

Don't get me wrong, the way the story plays out is great but the ending is still genuinely pissing me off. The whole idea of Navidson pulling out a book and going "well guess this is the only thing left for me to do..." only for it to fucking be House of Leaves is nothing but humorous to me. I've heard the theory that the book is actually The House of Leaves by Nathaniel Tarn, but that book is only 166 pages, not the 736 page Novel Navidson is reading. And then Johnny listening to some band play Only for them to have a song that has the lyrics "the 5½ minute hallway" which Johnny goes up and says "where did you get that from??" Just for them to pull out House of leaves with Zampanò's name and his on it was so fucking dumb to me. And then August 28 1999 footnote ending with "I know it's going to be ok" like I should give two shits about Johnny at all is astounding. Like, you talked about strangling and raping a girl Johnny. I don't know how to feel. I'm just mad it ended on some meta b.s. . This only my opinion maybe I'll find some way to make it seem better.

Why does my shelf say about me?

Got this sub recommended to me while I was on vacation and thought it would be fun to post my shelf! The photos are in order from top to bottom.

Found this while in south Dakota what did it belong to?

Was up in south Dakota seeing some family and went gold panning. Fond this in the dirt and immediately realized it was bone. It looks like it's part of a spine, but what animal does it belong to?

Is there a reason there are two editions of the way to happiness available?

In my study of scientology over the past two years I isn't recently finished getting all the books (third party on ebay, not on bridge publications, though I did buy a couple via Amazon) and this is the case that I have. The one on the right is bought on Amazon, and the one on the left i got with a bunch of other scientology/dianetics books from ebay. So I would like to ask, is there a functional reason why scientology offers two different versions of the same book? I'm assuming the one on the left is the "course" book and the one on the left is the public edition.

MISSION EARTH, A year later: Holy shit.

Original post I made: https://www.reddit.com/r/scientology/comments/1l0urh3/when\_mission\_earth\_came\_out\_did\_they\_buy\_the/

About a year ago I went to a used bookstore and found 9 out of 10 of the mission earth books listed for 25¢ and bought them because of my interest in learning about scientology/Blubbard (also partially because I am a collector). Anyway about 4 days ago I go back to the exact same book store and lo and behold, there were more copies of mission available for purchase at the used bookstore. Anyway, to make a long story short, I bought the 6th book in the "Longest dekagology ever written!" And just start reading from there for shits and giggles and also because I didn't really bother to read mission earth. And holy shit, I'm only 3 chapters in and this has to be one of the most crazy, paranoid, terrible writing I have ever seen. I don't know what the fuck Hubbard was on, but the amount of times he just repeats shit for no reason is crazy. He LOVES talking in threes. I noticed this also when doing a little reading of Diantetics 55! And not only does he repeat shit (and not even fluidly might I add) but his hate for psychiatry is plainly shown within the first 3 pages of the bookand it is almost laughable. There is also a lot of scientology themes (no shit) present in the book(and again, im not even 3 chapters in). All I can say is Lord have mercy as I continue to read this Awful book.

Attempting to Wenwan with English Walnuts

Found out about Wenwan a couple of weeks ago and thought it would be interesting to do with English Walnuts instead. I know I'm not the first but I will be posting weekly updates on how this experiment goes.

Is there a reason why a lot of books got discontinued with the 2007 re-release of "the basics"?

The images here are just some of the books that I can name off the top of my head that are no longer in print with the re-release of "the basics" is there any particular reason why? The way back machine of the scientilogy.org website as late as January 2007 has a quote from child dianetics on the front page.

Coin what’s worth

Stepdad found these in some apartments (Which we own in Mexico) and he’s wondering if there’s any value related to this.
