Got My first Pairs (Plus My Brother's Dog)

I was talking to my friend about the hobby and how I was thinking of getting into it and he ended up buying me a couple pairs from Walmart of all places (only $6 in total).
The smaller pair had a bit of rot or dirt or something in a little hole, but I was able to dig it all out with a needle. The one of the larger ones has 3 hairline cracks at the base, but I'm not gonna worry over it given the price.
Posting these here to have images to look back on, I've only been using them for a couple weeks. I'm really looking forward to see how they develop. I already want to get more, but I'm going to relax and use these pairs to make mistakes with and learn from first.

Something isn't right

The right is much darker than the other one, the left one is doing ok, why is it dark?

My Girlfriend accidentally washed my Walnuts with the laundry...

Absolutely devestated. All the patina has been completely stripped from them. I'm letting them dry off outside, but it's incredibly saddening to see 2 months of patina stripped off in a matter of minutes...

Hopefully they aren't permanently damaged, but to say i'm heart broken would be an understatement...

First picture is what they look like now, second picture was taken a few days ago...

Inlaid Walnuts - What stone type was most common in traditional Chinese culture?

I've been interested in inlaid walnuts since the beginning of my Wenwan journey, but i'm curious to hear opinions on what the most commonly inlaid stone was, traditionally in China.

A few of the examples posted in the link above are all ysing Turquoise, which until about a minute ago, I assumed was found primarily in North America (due to it's usage alongside silver in Southwestern Native American jewelry) but after a quick Google, it seems it has been mined in China for over 2,000 years!

Is Turquoise the most commonly inlaid stone in Wenwan walnuts? If not, what is? I'm curious to know!

Walnuts for small hands?

I’ve been searching for a pair of entry level walnuts after going down the wenwan rabbit hole but I’m trying to find ones that are on the smaller side. I’ve just got small mitts and want to have a pair that I can easily roll around. Any suggestions?

First Walnuts, One Week

Just got my first pair to play with and I am really beginning to understand the appeal. It’s such a relaxing and meditative hobby. Rolling, playing, just the tactile experience of learning a pair of walnuts plus the brushing. It’s all very peaceful.

Where to buy Wenwan Walnuts in Germany?

Hello fellow people, I have only today found out about this hobby and I wanted to start myself! Background of this is my dad and he is a big fan of the chinese culture. I wanted to gift my pair of wenwan to him when they are glossy and red :). Can someone tell me where I can buy walnuts that dont take ages to ship to germany? (I am moving soon) My budget is roughly 40 EUR ~ 50 USD including a box/bag to store them in and a brush. Thanks in advance!
