Tri-city Gynaecologist Experience, worried I'll be treated weirdly
I’m feeling a little anxious that instead of my concerns being heard, I’ll be judged for being in my early 20s and for having had intimate partners in the past.
I booked an appointment with a gynaecologist and I’m seeing her today. My concerns are mostly around a general reproductive health checkup, some private concerns, and possibly getting a few tests done.
I’m visiting from abroad (a western country) and have lived there my whole life, so I’m used to doctors being very confidential and non-judgmental about personal medical history. I know our culture here can be more conservative in some aspects.
I was wondering if there are any boundary setting questions or things I can say/do to make sure I’m treated with dignity and that the experience stays comfortable and confidential. I’m guessing some women here know the routine better than I do, so I’d really appreciate some guidance.
I genuinely wish women’s sexual and reproductive health wasn’t so stigmatized.
