Looking to replace my Surface Go 2 for something faster. Any advice?

So in 2020 I bought the Surface Go 2 because I needed something more portable than my gaming laptop that could handle both university work (coding and notes) and leisurely stuff (YouTube and light gaming).

But it's been six years now and its age is starting to show. Battery doesn't last very long the moment there's a video running, and after startup even right-clicking is slow.

My dad recently got a Samsung tablet (A12 I think) and I was almost jealous about how smoothly it runs. I'm tempted to get that tablet for myself as a replacement but I wanted some expert opinions of what is a good, budget alternative.

For further clarification, I have the Pentium core edition. I also do a lot of work on VMs. I used to have a Ubuntu VM on my Surface but deleted it to save storage.

Worst case scenario, I'll just divide and get a tab for leisure and keep the Go 2 for note-taking and coding.

So a couple of months ago I was feeling a little sore about the PS5 and how it wasn't really grabbing me. The game I was playing at the time was FF7 Rebirth and was feeling pretty mixed about it.

I was feeling oddly nostalgic for the PS4. It's not an old console but it was the console that got me into gaming proper (i had a Wii and an Xbox. But they were more just "fun toys". It was the PS4 that got me excited about the latest games and gaming news)

So I traveled to my home country for just a week and dug out my PS4 from storage to give it one more play. I had PS Plus and wanted something short so I went for Uncharted Lost Legacy. I was ready to be disappointed, to realise that it was just the nostalgia talking and my PS4 wasn't all that great.

But maaaaan I started playing and instantly fell in love again. I was used to games looking great on the PS5 because that was the norm. I was reminded of how graphics on the PS4 kept getting better year after year (I tried Infamous First Light first so yeah you could see the difference).

Ironically I wasn't the one really playing. My cousin was. I only jumped in when there was a puzzle to solve or he got stuck somewhere. But I still enjoyed the whole experience (literally. I actually loved some of the puzzles my god, especially the big statue ones)

The PS4 isn't that old of a console I know, but I was 14 when I bought one and I'm 25 this year. That's a lot of time. When this game was announced I was in peak 'gamer bro' era where I went "a game with colored women? Ewwwww"

I played it this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought i was sick of AAA games but I'm happy to be wrong. The graphics, the gunplay, the smooth movement. Is it anything groundbreaking? Nope. Is it still awesome? Hell yeah.

My only criticisms are "why tf does this not have a 2-player mode? You have 2 characters moving around everywhere together... why isn't the 2nd character playable?"

And the choice to use a pop song for the end-credits was... weird. The whole game stayed consistent with the whole grand adventure through ancient India vibe and the ending felt kinda disingenuous...

HOWEVER the end credit scene was hilarious, so props to them

TL:DR; game good. Nothing groundbreaking but still managed to blow me away. Satisfied my nostalgic craving and then some
