Would you visit this kind of bar in Baner? Genuinely asking before we open one.
Planning to open a listening bar in Baner/Balewadi — concept is borrowed from Tokyo and is starting to appear in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Wanted to check if Pune actually wants this before we go all in.
**What it is:**
— Small, 40-seat venue. Warm lighting. No TVs.
— Vinyl records playing on a proper turntable through a real sound system
— Japanese cocktails, Japanese beers, and a proper food menu — starters and mains, Japanese-influenced, concise but complete
— The vibe is: you can actually have a conversation without shouting
— No DJ. No dance floor. No bottle service. Just good music, good drinks, good food.
**What it's NOT:**
— Not a club. Not a lounge with EDM at 100db.
— Not a restaurant where drinks are an afterthought.
— Not another rooftop with fairy lights and a Spotify playlist.
Think: you and 3 friends, low light, Miles Davis or City Pop on vinyl, a Yuzu Negroni in hand, a plate of chicken karaage on the table, and no one screaming over the music.
**Quick questions if you have 30 seconds:**
- Does this sound like something you'd actually visit, or is it too niche for Pune?
- What would you pay per person for a night like this? (drinks + a proper meal)
- Is Baner/Balewadi the right location or would you prefer somewhere else?
- What would make you a regular vs a one-time visitor?
Not selling anything. Not a survey link. Just a genuine gut-check from someone about to make a big bet on Pune's nightlife. Brutal honesty appreciated.
