02 Tacoma Idle Control System CEL
Hey all,
So I’ve got an 02 Taco, it threw the P0505 (I think?) code, whichever one is the idle control system malfunction, sometime last month. I replaced the IAC and cleaned the throttle body/air filter about three weeks ago and haven’t had a problem until this past Monday when I drove it for 2 hours in the blistering heat and it came back. I cleared the code for funsies and it comes back after about an hour of driving.
The interesting thing is today and last night it did not come back on my hour+ commute to and from work and the only difference is the weather. We’ve just gotten rain and it’s much cooler.
I have the supercharged model, which I’ve heard doesn’t like the heat. Would it cause the system to toss a code? I’ve noticed it primarily when I’m coasting to a stop in lieu of downshifting (I have a 5-speed), or if I’m sitting in neutral at a stop light or something. It typically will pop then.
Problem is, I’ve got to get my emissions done by July so I can’t just let it ride and wait for cold weather.
Any ideas? ‘cause I’m about to parts cannon a MAF, an o2, and a TPS at ‘er.
